The IBM Thinkpad is now officially the Lenovo Thinkpad. With their recent quarter earnings now tripled at $105.26 million Lenovo has decided to drop the IBM brand early. Initially the deal with IBM allowed Lenovo to use the brand for several years.

“By making substantial progress on all of our critical priorities over the past few quarters, we’re now a stronger, healthier company,” Amelio said. “One important sign of this progress is our decision to completely transition our Think products from the IBM brand to the Lenovo brand two years earlier than planned.”

Lenovo originally purchased IBM’s computer business for $1.75 million back in 2005. They are currently in close competition with Acer for the third-largest PC manufacturer in the world.

  1. Correct 1.75 million to read: 1.75 billion.
