Back in September, Asus announced that they would be creating 2 pretty nice GPS’, the R300 and the R700. The R700 is the better GPS of the two, and today, Asus released a bunch of information regarding the R700.
Some of the main features of the R700 are its 4.3-inch touch screen, RDS/TMC traffic receiver, and text-to-speech function. Unfortunately, it does not come with an FM transmitter. However, it does come with a pretty cool feature; it can read text messages from your cell phone by using the hands free Bluetooth device. Other specs include:
SiRF Star III integrated GPS receiver
4.3-inch touch screen
Light sensor
Hands free bluetooth kit
Anti Echo Function
Integrated RDS/TMC receiver
Samsung 2440 Processor
microSD Port
Mini USB 1.1
64 MB SDRAM
128 MB ROM
1300 mAh Lithium-Ion battery
iGO 8 navigation software with maps of Europe and 3D rendering of select structures
Windows CE.net 5.0
Music player: AAC, MP3, WMA; and video player: MPEG4, H263
Lastly, the Asus R700 is expected to be on sale in Europe this December, costing between 400-500 Euros or for somewhere between 400-500 €, or $585-$732. It is pretty expensive, but if you are looking for a good quality GPS, then this might be the one for you.
