There’s been lots of hype around Asus Eee PC, you know, the $400 ultra-portable and super-affordable laptop that was launched a couple of weeks ago. Well, available now is their Black 4G Surf model, for just $350. The difference between this model and the $400 Pearl white and Galaxy black is the lack of a webcam, a smaller battery and a soldered-on 512 RAM module. The Eee PC Surf, Pearl and Galaxy all sport a compact 7-inch display, 512 DDR2 RAM, a 4gb Solid State disk (as opposed to a spinning hard drive), built-in G wireless card, and weigh in at only 0.92 kg (about 2 pounds). They come with a custom version of Linux pre-installed, but if you prefer, Windows XP drivers are available for download on Asus’s website. If $350 is still too steep for your pockets, you can always wait for the 2G Surf Eee PC’s that are expected in January, for $300.

Unfortunately for us Europeans, the ASUS Eee PC won't be available until the mid of december earliest – it is even more likely for it to appear somewhen in January 2008.
I've heard rumours that the PC8G will feature a 10 inch display but nothing seems to be definite so far.
I'm trying to collect most of the Eee related information on my website so if you have any news about this, I'd really appreciate you giving me a short notice.
