Western Digital GreenPower hard drives

Western Digital has launched a new line of GreenPower hard drives with 500GB, 750GB and 1TB capacities. The new hard drives are built to reduce power consumption up to 40 percent when compared to other hard drives in the market. IntelliPower, IntelliSeek, IntelliPark and Active Power Management are technologies that provide these drives with power efficiency. According to Western Digital, these new drives can save a data center $10 a year per drive so in other words, a large data center can save up to $100,000 annually with 10,000 of the new drives. The hard drives are available at $149.99, $249.99 and $349.99 respectively.
