The new highly anticipated BlackBerry 9000 looks to be a very nice smartphone, unfortunately it won’t be released in time for the holiday season. The specs that Boy Genius Report got their hands on aren’t the final, confirmed specs, but will give you a good idea as what to expect when it’s finally released.
Basically, it will feature a 480 x 320 (or possibly 320 x 480) display, 1GB of internal memory and an Intel XScale PXA270 processor at 624MHz. The 9000’s processor will be faster than the iPhone, which has a 620 MHz ARM 1173 processor. Additionally, it comes with something that all BlackBerry fans have wanted for a while, GPS, Wi-Fi and 3G multi-band HSDPA support. As of now, it looks like the camera on the 9000 will remain the same 2-megapixel camera, although that could hopefully change to a 3.2-megapixel before release.
The rest of the features in the current 4.3 OS will remain the same in the 9000. There is no word as to what kind of keyboard will be coming with the 9000, however, there are a few speculations as to what it will come with. From the picture you can’t really tell, but it could come with a touch screen or a slider keyboard.
Unfortunately, there is no word on pricing or availability as of yet. It is rumored to be launching sometime in Q1 or Q2 of 2008. Stay tuned for more info as it becomes available.
