Asus Eee PC

The Asus Eee PC is a pretty good one, but Asus is going out and stating they will sell 3.8 million Eee’s next year, now that’s a tall order to fill. While 3.8 million of these laptops may not sound like a lot to you, just consider this. Hewlett-Packard, which is currently atop the laptop world, sold 6.2 million laptops in the last quarter. However, they are more well known than the Eee and have a lot more laptop models and configurations to choose from. Also, Apple sold 1.4 million in the same time frame.

While it is very possible that Asus will reach this mark, it is going to be pretty difficult with all the other laptops out there. Also, Daily Tech says that many of these 3.8 million Eee’s will be selling with the stripped down version of Windows XP basically designed for “emerging markets.” It will be very interesting to see what changes Asus will make to the Eee, and how it will fare next year.

  1. This will be interesting to see if it pans out. Certainly in the UK at the moment I am one of the lucky few who have managed to purchase one of these natty new laptops. Most (if not all) suppliers are currently out of stock with many not able to provide stock until after Xmas which is clearly a missed opportunity. I personally know at least a couple of people who are desperate to buy one of these for gifts.
