Microsoft is working on a new version of Windows that is being designed to be used with computers without a hard drive, including the XO laptop. This new version of XP will include Office and be able to run directly from a 2GB SD card. The XO laptop has an SD card slot, which is something that was added based on a request from Microsoft. The new version will be available in “limited field trials” within a month and is expected to be launched sometime after June 2008.
Sounds like a cool version of XP to have, sadly it will not be available to the US or Canada, even if you purchased one of the XO laptops, although once its released I would not be surprised to see it available everywhere, legal or not.
