Nikon D90

Popular speculation has it that Nikon’s DSLR line will be updated, perhaps with the D80x or D90. Nikon has fallen behind the times with their D80, and it has been nearly 18 months since the August 2006 launch of the highest “consumer” DSLR.

New additions to the model will include:

  1. 14 bit A/D conversion (compared to the current 12 bit.)
  2. Live view.
  3. EXPEED image processor.
  4. Self-cleaning sensor.
  5. 3-inch LCD (up from 2.5-inch) with higher resolution.
  6. 5 fps (up from 3).

As you can see, live view is a supposed new feature (it allows you to see what the picture is actually going to look like, in real time) which most DSLR makers are aiming to add to their devices, and Nikon is following suit; thusly ruining all those Flickr pics of DSLR-mirror shots. Going hand in hand with the live view is the bigger, 3-inch LCD. Shooting 5 frames per second will be a dream come true for sports photographers, but the Canon 40D can shoot at an excellent 6 frames per second.

Look for this (rumored) device in the next two months or so.
