The recently updated Asus Eee would appear to have a rival, the Noahpad ultra-mobile PC, which is due to launch at CES. It is made by Taiwanese company E-Lead Electronic.
As you can see it is very similar in form factor to the Asus aside from the slight twist on the keyboard. The Noahpad has a feature list that includes:
7-inch display
Dual touch pads and a split keyboard design
Running Ubuntu 7.10
Can Windows XP with drivers
1GHz VIA C7 Eden processor
512MB worth of RAM
30GB hard drive
It isn’t just the hard drive that sets it apart from the Eee though, as the display folds back on itself a la tablet PC style, albeit a not very functional one as the display isn’t touchscreen.
