Intel is predicting big advances in the mobile internet market and think it wont be long before users are pulling data off the internet in real time, and as such are looking at mobile chips with the power of todays desktops. This will require quite a break through in chip development, but they are part of the 10 year road map that will see 5 new generations of chips.
Of the technologies competing to put the Internet in our pockets Intel is backing WiMax, one of the key trends for 2008 that we have previously highlighted,
“We need a ubiquitous, wireless broadband infrastructure. Eventually we will blanket the globe in wireless broadband connectivity.”
So location aware devices that bring the internet to us rather than us having to go the Internet is what we can expect to see in the future with the help of Intel chips.
