iriver’s W7 MP3 player takes ‘Best of CES’ for MP3 players

A new MP3 player with a twist has been given the coveted ‘Best of CES’ award in the MP3 and Portable Video Player category from CNET. The new iriver W7 is not only a solid portable media player but also has GPS capabilities as well.

The GPS features do require an external (which is an additional purchase) car mount cradle that includes the actual GPS antenna. At first thought it sounds like a feature that would go unused because its not built-in, however with the antenna being separate you will have a slimmer player for those times when GPS is not needed, which is always a good thing when it comes to portable devices.

Aside from the GPS functionality is also plays music, videos, it can view photos or text and also plays flash-based games. The W7 features a 3-inch touchscreen display, FM tuner, e-dictionary, a microSD card slot for additional memory and is available in either a 4GB or 8GB flash-based memory capacity. The W7 is expected to be available at the end of Q1, pricing still has not been announced.
