The social networking sites numbers for the US are in and the year to year comparisons are pretty telling. MySpace is down 1% while FaceBook is up 77%. The biggest movement is by some new comers, namely Fubar.com who grew by, get this, 3272217%. Fubar is billed as “the first online bar and happy hour,” with free well drinks all night long. OK, I made up that last bit.
All but two on this top 20 list had positive year over year gains confirming the general feeling that social networking is far from done. Newcomers like myyearbook and linkdin saw triple digit growth proving these smaller, segmented markets have lots of growth potential.

just a joke?
Does it matter that myspace has 950MILLION more visitors? Are you really not able to read the information on the chart?
If I had no website last year, and have one this year and 4 people go to it, the number would be a 400% improvement. Duh.
James, while your math skills are dizzying, the attempt at a personal dig is weak.
I could care less how many more visitors one site has over another, it is where they are headed that I find interesting. Looking at the year to year change you can ask things like, "has myspace peaked?" or "what could be the next big thing in social apps?".
Oh, and you'll want to check that 950 Million column header, that "visits" not "visitors". I'll make no reference to anyone's ability to read the chart, homey.
Fubar's increase is crazy. Wow.
I just hope Facebook and Myspace keep doing well…..
yes fubar {aka, cherry tap for the loyal ones} is climbing. They have many interesting twists and individual involvement. Its commercialization among members trying to profit personally is either almost extinct or conducted on a much more mature and discret level. They maintain the site from spam and hackers extremely well and members are very cool for the most part..definately a site for the adults!!
The free rabbit photo, rabbit videos and more types of rabbit About Us in the rabbits-house.com
fubar has a major flaw that has come to the attention of the federal trade commission as well as paypal and most the major banking institutions for there rather brazen acts of fraud and theft by deception.
not only is fubar being investigated so heavily but they have also been named as defendents in atleast 15 class action lawsuits. alot of the long time members are leaving the site or being forced out for speaking up and defending themselves against the communist like acts of its ownership.
scrapper and babyjesus they two who are the men behind running the site and owners of it are to of the most ego power driven nutjobs in the history of social networking.
furthermore there membership count is complete crap as they do not remove the email address of those members who have deleted or were deleted and count those emails as members even though they are no longer there.
when confronted about it they tell you its there site will run it as they see fit and can do as they please and then promptly either suspend your account or delete it or reset it or take away various privelages.
i strongly recomend that no one join fubar.com.
unless you are prepared to be ripped off and insulted bullied and sexually harassed
well autum,
ive been there three years trouble free and never have been asked to spend a dime, NEVER, solicited to buy anything or bullied in the least. its costs nothing to join and nothing to stay. facebook is a huge ripoff asking for money up front. myspace is for kids, time to grow up!! fubar is spam free. hacker free! post any pic you want….i mean any pic. private sections keep the goodie two shoes from being exposed to your more risque photos. communist? no, actually very very liberal! its for adults maybe thats why you had trouble there..,…
when did you change your intials baby satan?
lol, Babyjesus comes forward to defend his horrible site, or is it Scrapppa dappa do? Doesn't matter. There are 3,000,000 accounts, mostly made my the site employees, and only 50,000 online, ever. Its dumb to compare them to myspace. Prostitution, and Baby J is the main pimp.
Notice this line:::::
post any pic you want….i mean any pic. private sections keep the goodie two shoes from being exposed to your more risque photos. communist? no, actually very very liberal! its for adults maybe thats why you had trouble there..,…
Luring you in, that's what they're all about.
i've never seen more than 50,000 online at once, and i've found tons of accounts that haven't been visited since 2006-07.
Fubar has more than one flaw that's being investigated and it does not only have spyware for your comp, but members are allowed to have i.p. finders on their pages (good for hackers) .I was there for 3 years and someone hacked my account and three other peoples that I know of there and they are all too proud to let you be harrassed, cursed at,mentally and emotionally abused, etc.,by others.I left there when I realized that they were letting in teenagers as long as they had nude or half nude pics of themselves. The so called bouncers and owners there that are supposed to help, don't do anything but curse at you and block you for asking and if you're at a certain level on there, you can't delete your account even after emailing them endlessly.
The article is so useful.thanks to share, please keep it.
Fubar has charged my credit card account with over $500.00 of fraudulent charges. All attempts to rectify and resolve the issue politely with the individuals or in various "help" sites within fubar were met with silence for more than six months. I made contact with the Federal Trade Commission (was told "get in line, and bring your lunch"), the Better Business Bureau in the county where fubar "claims" to be doing business, and finally with the U.S. District Attorney's office in San Francisco have led me to believe that there are thousands of people who made the mistake of joining fubar.
My attempts to resolve the unauthorized charges through the bank where the account was opened have been for naught. Fraud investigators with the bank have related the run-around that they received and were given false statements that I used the card in all cases (though they refused to produce any proof of this to the fraud investigation office of MasterCard).
My attempts to contact the owner, who was identified only by word of mouth (there being no method or site of complaint resolution, or list of owners and officers of the corporation), produced no results: all inquiries that I made were met with silence. I finally contact the individual who repeatedly asked me to donate money directly to him, an individual using the pseudonym of "Baby Jesus", resulted in a curt answer of "I don't care: I don't have to." and another response of "If you don't like it, leave."
As an investigative writer, I have made contact with numerous people who have long-time associations with fubar, seemingly reasonable individuals who provided me with explanations of why they left fubar because of what they termed as fraud on several accounts: they detailed information where others who have financial interests in fubar created fictitious accounts to boost their membership numbers artificially, in many cases where photographs of female commercial models (who have no association with fubar whatsoever): these fictitious accounts supposedly number in the thousands. Members who have recognized some of these models and have "blown the whistle" on the fake accounts have been harassed by either "bouncers" who are real people, or have their accounts sabotaged by "bouncer" programs which delete their personal messages, or, interfere with their participation in activities on fubar.
fubar demands its members to post "salutes" which are "proof" of their identity: however, complaints are circulating in growing numbers among members of identity theft that have resulted in their photographs being used by people who establish false identities as part of a criminal activity. Several of the claims made of identity theft have purportedly occurred after an individual had a run-in with a "bouncer" as a result of the bouncer's overbearing behavior.
Another favorite of fubar members are under-age women who ask for credit card numbers for the purpose of having on-camera sex with you, or, in a number of cases, have asked if I would like to meet them and "party" in local hotels. These same individuals began sending dozens, if not hundreds, of lettersss to my e-mail address which I established singularly for my membership in fubar: no one else has this address.
In a six-month period, I received dozens demands for a credit card number and information from fubar for undisclosed charges that I'd incurred — though not a single response was made to my inquiry about the nature of these charges that I allegedly was responsible for. I also politely brought up the details of approximately $500.00 charged to a credit card for charges I had not made or authorized to ask for proof or justification for the charges. In over 10 months of repeated requests to have these charges explained or detailed, not a single response was received other than the tersely rude answers I received from Baby Jesus of "I don't care: I don't have to." and "If (I) don't like the game, don't play it."
I was also alerted to the fact that inquiries were being made into my personal details and credit histories by the watchdog company that I employ to keep my private and credit information private. Having made the mistake of providing a personal credit card for two small transactions before I knew better, fubar placed a number of credit checks with national credit agencies and inquiries into personal information for both my wife and I. We have since employed a reputable national private investigation firm in the matter for the purpose of filing a criminal complaints against fubar and its officers.
I also began to receive personal correspondence from people who did not ring true to who they said they were. Investigation into the e-maill addresses showed that several were faked.and delivered my answers to third parties, some of who were men,, for purposes which we have yet to determine.
Numerous people have complained that the software designers of at least one of the "games" on fubar are designed to fleece game participants of money and in trying to remain competitive in the game, use their personal credit cards to buy "blings" or credits to purchase elements of credit used for games. In many cases, complaints about not receiving the proper credit for the charges incurred have met with fubar's characteristic silence treatment, there being no office or agent assigned within fubar to handle such complaints. I participated in one of the games for nearly eleven months, keeping written and photographic record of the errors of credit, accounting, arithmetic and deletions.which, when brought to the attention of various people having financial interests in the corporation, responded with hostility and bold arrogance. With regard to some of these errors, I was told that if "(I) didn't like the game, not to play it" — though I made it clear that I was trying to resolve errors that I had uncovered. Following the third or fourth complaint that I made to the principle officers of fubar, I began to discover the disappearance of credits or the reduction of items I'd gained through play of the game. I also noticed, when sitting with a group of other fubar members, that the information that they saw on their computers was different that what I saw. In other words, the information routed to my computer was different than what other members' displays showed.
In conclusion, most of what I'd observed about fubar is that it is a house of cards, with thousands of fake accounts being created by members who had financial interests in the company. Photographs of famous commercial models are placed on accounts in order to entice men to pay real money to provide electronic gift icons ("blings") to these alleged members in hopes that these carnal gifts would allow men to see prurient photographs of the models. In many cases, these photographs did not even look like the models: I suspect that those photographs, some of which had been obviously photo-shopped, were taken from the account of members no longer participating in a personal fubar account.
I strongly and sincerely urge people to give a second thought to joining fubar. Most decent woman who have joined fubar for the purpose of socializing with other "normal" mature adults have found themselves to be the victims of harassment, stalking, language and actions rude beyond belief. The risk of credit fraud is much too high as is the danger of identity and credit theft.
Well I have a different view of this site.I joined back in 2004 just when it was going from Lost Cherry and moving towards being Cherry Tap.Back then it was truely a social network, you could earn points and move up that way.But when Mike"aka" Baby Jesus decided to change the name yet once again it was obvious it wasnt so much to better the social experience. It was more of a way to stuff alot more money in his pocket. This is when it became a network of people who could buy their way to higher levels on the site. And to move through the higher levels you have to spend money yourself or get another member to do it for you.Not so much what Id call a Social Network anymore.More like who wants to spend money to look better then the next guy.
I wanted to ad alittle more about this Fubar site.I have been booted off twice for speaking up about several things on the site.As I said,I joined back in 2004 when the site was known as Lost Cherry. It was fun and it seemed the following was of mostly older people(roughly over 30).The theme on the site was all about Cherries,so that was the whole idea, add pictures of cherries to your page, to comments to other members profiles etcetra. You earned points for it and moved up in that fashion.Sometime in 2005-6 the owner announced he was going to change the name again. This time to Cherry Tap.He Mike aka Baby Jesus, asked for feedback from people about the name change. It must of went over well with the majority, but I expressed my disappointment by saying that I thought it was crap and that it should remain Lost Cherry.I soon found myself deleted.I was pissed off because I had moved up to a fairly high level on the site, and believe me it took alot of time to earn the points to do so.I need to tell my whole history to point out a fews thing that 'autumn" , "Wolf" and Jigsaw have pointed out about the site and its ownership. After about a year,(my cooling off period),I went back to the site and joined it again. This is when I noticed the change toward the site making it easier to increase your levels by buying benefits.I stayed on the low low and earned my points the old fashion way.Until once again Ownership announced its intent to change the name.In the mean time I was building and selling choppers out of my garage.I attempted to give one away to a Cherry Tap member, without violating there terms of use.(You cannot promote a site or business there). This is when Scrapper decided to block me from the site for a month. So I went to Yahoo and gave it away. After I was allowed back on the site Everyone was informed that the site was soon going to change the name again…..now it would be Fubar.Alot of people who were friends on my profile decided it was time to leave. I considered it at first, but decided to stay and check it out for a while.I watched as they started adding privileges and other things you could buy.Games, Fumafia etctera etctera. It was pretty obvious that the site was slowly being transformed into a money generating machine.Dont get me wrong nothing wrong with making money we all need it.Soon the site was filled with people ranging from 18-29 and they were rising in the ranks. In less then a few months people that had been there for 6 months or less were in the highest ranks.Levels that would have taken anyone else not spending money there, one or two years.I started asking other members if they thought that all the fun was gone and if anyone else thought if it was all a money game. This time I didnt get kicked off I got blocked from using my profile. My profile is still there,I just cant hange anything on it or participate in any of the activities.I bought my share of things on there nd currently they are still active I just cant use them.Ive noticed changes to the profile that have been made since I was blocked. If Im not allowed to access it and make those changes…….who is? The ownership can do that.I think I been played and they have my credit card info which scares me.I dont need those kinds of headaches.Anyways take all that hw you will, and Id like to put it out there, that Id love to be a witness in one of those lawsuits.Offer my help anyway I can.
I joined Fubar.com last October and spent quite a lot of time on the site…I was making great friends…moving up in the ranks…..well a few days ago I entered a Fu-lottery and was notified that I had won a God-mode…well when they sent it It disappeared so I email fubar support and they told me they would fix it…so they sent it again….and it vanishes once more….so once again I e-mail support…no answer…later that night I try to make a withdrawl out of my bank and its denied…so I go and online and check my statement and I see there has been a charge to my card for $649.99, from fubar.com….so I email scrapper and support again….the first email I said hey wtf…first my missing god-mode now you charge my card for something I never asked for nor ever received and I loved fu and never thought they would do me like that, what did i get as a response? THEY BLOCKED ME. I had 107 blings my friends had bought me And two god modes woth 100 credits each plus 53 credits i never got to spend… I was able to log in with my facebook and email them again and scrapper sent me a messege saying I need to fill out a credit card authorization form and fax it in and to stop making fake profiles…which i never did…and they blocked me out of the facebook log in …and not only that why would I fill out a CCA when I don't want you authorized to use my card…I'm truely saddened by all this..I was a good FU and generated a lot of business for them…9 of my friends joined because of me…So all beware of the addicting site called fubar…it's a SCAM.
I broke all the rules on Fubar and was deleted. But my story is somewhat different.
You have to be very thick skinned to be on Fubar. Especially if you are a mummer.
Since I am very Conservative and made mumms that reflected my conservatism on
politics
I was called every name in the book. I was accused of racism, conspiracy theories
and many other things. Most of the time these were accompanied by very disrespectful
words and names, all of which were a violation of Fubars rules. I was called all these names
for mostly all the 4 years I was on Fubar. The people who broke
the rules all the time were very rarely deleted. They are the regulars. Whether or not
they are the favorites of the owners, I do not have knowledge of however, one bouncer
and her boyfriend are able to break the rules of Fubar without any discretion.
When I broke the rules of Fubar against these particular people, I was deleted.
I fully defended myself by calling out the same names they called me and more.
With all of this in stride, you have to always remember that, not just Fubar but all
social sites have people on them. People make mistakes, I know that I am not
a perfect individual. But the proof is in the puddin, there is favoritism on certain sites,
Fubar is one of them.It is a corruption of the rules that is not fair to everyone. If
you know this and keep repeating it to yourself as you are called every name in the book,
you may survive a good time and enjoy having fun with others.
It seems that the internet has given everyone a freedom to talk and also be very
disrespectful toward others at the same time. I never spent any money on the site,
but I know in my heart that all I had done, captured some even though some would
never admit it. Life goes on without the Fubar addiction.
