So far we have seen a fair amount of leaks and rumors about the upcoming Eee Box, everything from specs to the rumored EBOX name. Well, the latest seems to be the complete and official specs along with just how much this little desktop PC is going to set you back.
The pricing, as one would expect will vary slightly depending on the hard drive and RAM options that you choose. A 80GB hard drive with 1GB of RAM and Linux will run you $269, however adding Windows XP to that will up the price by just $30 to $299. A 160GB hard drive with 2GB of RAM and Linux will also set you back $299, no mention was made of a similar spec’d model with Windows XP. The Eee Box will also not include any optical drive, most likely due to the overall small size, which measures in at 8.5-inches x 7-inches x 1-inch.
Other features include:
CPU: Intel Atom N270 (1.6GHz, FSB 533)
RAM: 512MB to 2GB
Storage: 80G to 250GB
Chipset: Intel 945GSE + ICH7M
Display: Intel GMA 950, up to 1600 x 1200 resolution
Connectivity: Ethernet, 802.11n WiFi, optional Bluetooth
Card reader: SD/SDHC/MMC/MMC Plus/RS MMC/MS/MS Pro
Audio Azalia ALC888 Audio chip
Ports: 4 USb, headphone, mic, DVI, Line out
Although an official release date has not yet been announced, it is expected to be available in the US as early as mid-July, and hit the Canadian market in August.
