Korean based GPS manufacturer, FineDigital, recently created a GPS that has speech recognition technology within it that allows drivers to search for places by speaking to the GPS.
Dubbed the FineDrive Bio GPS, it comes with a SiRF V5 chip, runs on a 900MHz Dual Core CPU, boasts a 7-inch LCD screen with an 800 x 480 resolution, DMB receiver to watch live broadcasts, 2D+3D or 3D+2D map rendering, multitask functionality, dual slot SD memory card expansion and USB connectivity. ETRI provides the speech recognition technology, which is called FineSR, and it recognizes over 450,000 words. This is a nice addition to an otherwise good GPS, it can help drivers speak to their GPS while driving, instead of having to stop or use the GPS while driving.
Expected release date is July 7 in the Korean market, and it is going to come in two models, 2GB and 4GB. They are going to sell for 499,000 KRW ($474) and 549,000 KRW ($522) respectively.
