PLX Kiwi

I think we are trying to save a little gasoline now that gas has gone up to over four dollars a gallon. A little device called the PLX Kiwi is based on the principle that we can save gas (and money) by changing our driving habits.

On the surface, the PLX Kiwi looks like a GPS, but it doesn’t give directions. Instead, it is designed to monitor your fuel consumption. From this information, it tallies up a score for you that shows how to become a better more fuel-efficient driver.

The PLX Kiwi plugs into the OBDII socket, which is on most vehicles built after 1996. From here, a user can see the 2.2-inch LED display that will teach them how to save up to 20% on gas.

I’m not certain if this device will catch on, but I believe it is on the right track. I think consumers would rather see the PLX Kiwi as a feature on their GPS rather than a separate device itself. If this is something that you want to try, feel free to lay down £299 (about $563 US) for it on the Kiwi site.
