Packard Bell puts a “dot” to the netbook market

Top European technology company Packard Bell has joined the netbook wars with an aptly branded netbook – dot. In releasing their own netbook, Packard Bell says that they have been watching the netbook market for quite some time now and noticed that most of them “have been too austere and too business oriented for consumers.” Hence, the company wants to put more emphasis on having a netbook that is more family-oriented. And does it succeed with that objective? Let’s take a quick look at the Dot netbook’s features.
Those features don’t seem to be too promising since we’ve already seen them in the other netbooks available in the market today. OK, so the feature spec isn’t anything to write home about, how about the price? Unfortunately, the Dot netbook’s expected market price of around $584 wouldn’t really pull that much traction especially in the already saturated netbook market. But for Packard Bell fans, the Dot netbook might generate some excitement and eventually sales as well starting November when the netbook is released.
