  2. Well, this is the last one I am entering, I have lost in all the previous ones so far. I even entered all 31 HP HDX contest and lost, can't handle the disappointment anymore. I have made it clear, I plan to share the gift with my church and my siblings. The only thing I want out of this is the HDX because Windows 7 and Multi-Touch.

  4. I really hope to win. The prize is too much for someone. It is really indeed sharing the magic, i believe the prize should be split so that more people have chances of winning and giving to the people in various places around the world, like in my small country Belize. It is great from HP & Microsoft and other partners to be giving away such extraordinary high tech package.

  11. Hope to win! If I do, here's what I plan to do with the prizes:

"I would donate the desktop (TouchSmart) and both of the notebooks to NorthStar Youth Ministries in Birmingham, AL (http://www.northstaryouthministries.org/). My girlfriend has worked directly with that non-profit organization, and she has relayed to me how desperately the camp needs new computers. Both the staff of NorthStar and the children who go through the program could benefit from the use of these cutting-edge computers (I firmly believe that one of the ways out of poverty is good education, especially with computers).

I would also donate the software too, of course. I personally am really only interested in the Mini and the printer."

  12. Awesome! I was so pleased to see that I was automatically entered for signing up. Thank you so much for the chance. I would be over the moon to win (but who wouldn't?!). I want to give this prize to my boyfriend. He runs his own computer business, and needs to upgrade his workstation soon. This would be SUCH a help!! Not to mention how much joy it would bring him to have the newest, funnest gadgets! He would be ecstatic! It would be the best present ever, and he truly deserves it. So thank you to Gadgetell and HP for this amazing chance! My fingers are crossed. :)

  16. HP Magic Giveaway -
It sure is Magic! This is the perfect time of year to share the wealth. If I were to win this contest, I would share two of the computers with a family my sister told me about. They live near her, in Texas, and their youngest son, Rowan, spends almost all of his time in the hospital (more than 200 days this year) which is a long drive from their home. He's missed every holiday and most of the family's birthdays because of being in the hospital. When my sister and I heard about this contest we thought that the family could use the computers video capabilities to video chat and see more of eachother. It's not a miracle, but it may help their spirits to receive such a wonderful gift. With the exception of one laptop that I would love to keep for my family, the rest of the package will be given to Rady Children's Hospital Oncology Department in San Diego (where my son spent a lot of his time last year).

  18. If i were to win this competition i would firstly be over excited and overwhelmed, because i have won nothing in my life, and this would be the first time.

I would like to donate the DV4 notebook to Don Bosco Boarding School, because these kids have nothing at all, let alone computers they daily food is like only lentils, and chicken or meat is bought for them only on occasions. I would really like these kids to learn how to use a computer and educate themselves.

Another notebook I would like to give to a Nursery School which is funded by our church, this school has no technology at all, they have been asking me to help them get different quotations for computers but even the cheapest one they aren’t able to afford. They use an ancient typewriter to type out letters. So I would like them to have a notebook.

I would like my wife to have the HP Mini, cause she is doing a 4 month course in Sales & Marketing and at the moment she is writing everything down on paper. I know this would help her alot and would make her really happy.

The Kung Fu Panada Movie i would like to give to my cuz cause they love that cartoon.

Besides i have had an extremely bad year since the beginning, firstly we were asked to leave our house, so we needed to leave immediately, then in June my father passed away because of cancer, then 2 months later my aunt passed away, she slipped and fell in the bathroom, then again 2 months later i lost my job. So my winning this it would really make me and my family happy, and before this year ends it will make our Christmas special. And adding to all this I was not robbed of US$8000 for work I did for the past 4 months for a client remotely.

So I would really like to win and make me a bit happy and the people around me, by gifting them these wonderful computers

    Thank you.

  19. Hi, Winning this entry will be of great help to me. Working abroad (BAHRAIN Middle East) and being away from the family (Philipines) is really hard. Especially when you are from the other side of the world. I work and live only because of them. Since my father passed away, I took the reponsibility of being the breadwinner of the family. I maybe single but with great responisbilities. If I win this giveaways, I would like to share them with my families. This will help me stay connected always with my loved ones from the Philippines. I would like to keep the Touchsmart with me, HDX18T and the MediaSmart. The HP MINI will be for my younger sister who is now on her highschool, the other notebook will be for my MOM (dv4t) including all the rest of the package. Thanks…

    technogeekchris
  20. Well i would just like to take the HDX to give to my mother, because she uses a very very old compaq laptop, and she could use an update. Also i would choose one of the laptops for my kid brother because he is learning design using photoshop, and the computer he is using just isnt up for the task.

The rest of the prize, i would just feel bad if i kept any of it, seeing as i dont really need it. Luckily i have a steady job and could more or less afford to buy any of the prizes myself if i really needed it. So in my humble opinion the best way to use this prizes would be to give them to someone who can put them to good use. Not only someone who needs it, but someone can use them to help those who need. So i would give it to an organization which i myself support, and whose work greatly improved the lives of many people around the world. The organization is avaaz.org and i sugest any of you to take the time to check it out. Their contribution has been decisive on various issues and they sure could take your help.

  21. I'm so happy that I don't have to do much for this contest! My brain was getting a bit worn out ;-)

One of the laptops that I'd receive would go to a great guy in Australia. His computer (6 years old) broke 7 months ago and since he cannot afford to even buy a $300 refurbished computer (he lives with/takes care of his elderly ailing mother), he has since lost touch with many of his best friends- and he worries about them constantly. He's the kind of person that stays up all night if a friend needs a shoulder to (virtually) cry on- and I should know, because I've taken advantage of him that way plenty of times. The poor fella. He just truly cares about people, and, in return, so many people care about him. Having a computer will allow him peace of mind and enable him to get back in-touch with some of the people that mean the most to him.

I would give the touch-computer and printer to my mom. She is the owner of a (very) small business, and her business is really struggling right now. Having the up-to-date technology would really make a world of difference in how she operates & manages her inventory (books). Her computer is pretty out-dated; the tower's size alone is a hindrance but when you add in the bulky monitor plus her 'mom-clutter' it gets a little crazy to try to type up book descriptions. Also, it's very very slow. I scan it weekly for her for spy/adware and viruses, but it still struggles and hesitates to open up new pages/etc.

Besides the business reason, I really want to surprise her with the new computer because she's sacrificed a lot to raise (and home school) me and my younger siblings. This prize package alone is worth more than she made most years (including this one) to support our family of 5, and yet if one of her kids ever needed anything she'd move Heaven and Earth to get it for them. I'd really like a chance to see the look on her face when she opens up a brand-new computer (assuming she doesn't faint!).

I would give my sister the mini. She is in her first year of college. She commutes an hour away 2 days a week currently, and that amount is about to be raised to 5 days a week next semester. She has worked very hard, and has just been nominated Editor of her College's newspaper. In addition to taking 12 credits now (18 next semester) she works 4 days a week at Walmart as a People Greeter (she's the happiest people greeter they have). We're all very proud of her, and I know her life would be a lot easier if she could take the mini with her instead of having to schedule in time to run across campus to use the school's computer labs between classes.

I would use one of the laptops myself when I graduate from Grad school with my Secondary Ed and Special Ed teaching certificates. I plan to teach in a Pittsburgh public middle school- I love the age that middle schoolers are at and I feel like I would do the most good teaching in an urban environment (and I love Pittsburgh- the atmosphere, the people, the passion!).

  23. Winning this prize package would be amazing. I’m using an old Presario 7000 that I’ve done my best to keep it running well by doing regular maintenance and updates but it’s reached the point to where it can no longer be upgraded or have its parts replaced. I would probably keep the TouchSmart to replace my current computer & I’m hoping such a computer could meet my school needs by allowing me to operate AutoCAD and any other program that I regularly use. I’d also probably keep one of the laptops for times I’m at school for long hours or away from home for days. My current setup I would give to GoodWill.

The rest of the computers would be given to family members who I know could use one. My brother doesn’t have a computer and would like to have a laptop to take with him for traveling. My niece could benefit from having a laptop for her schoolwork, recording her music, and writing poetry.

I think my 7-year-old nephew would enjoy getting the Kung Fu Panda DVD so that he could watch it any time he wanted. I don’t know of anyone who could use the MediaSmart and any other software, so I would donate it if I can’t find anyone who could benefit from it.

  25. Hi my name is Alex and I am 19, I am a college sophomore, who is currently majoring as pre-med. I am really nice and hard-working, I have volunteered several different places. I was a tutor for the boys and girls, the soup kitchen, and several other organizations. I know how it feels to give, it is one of the greatest feelings in the world.

Here is what I would do with the prize.

    Dear Mom,
I recently won an amazing prize package that has allowed me to give to you. I know how much you gave up for me and Caitlin (my little sister) when you were raising us. It was hard and you had to do it alone. I am sorry for all the trouble I was always in. I remember when I was younger when you got the computer you have now. You use it as your escape after a long hard day. Well that computer is now 8 years old, sometimes it doesnt work, and it is so slow that we often crack jokes about it. Well mom, here is a little present for you. I am going to give you a new computer.

    Dear Caitlin,
You are the best little sister anyone could ever hope for. You were my best friend when I had no one, you were my crutches when I needed support. I am so proud of you for everything that you have done in your life. You could not have turned out any better. I am so flattered that you wish to follow in my footsteps. I know that you have been saving up for years to get a computer, so here you go. I hope that this can making it easier for you to reach your hopes and dreams during your first year of high school.

    Dear Corey,
You are my best friend and the love of my life. We have been together for what eight years now. These have been the best years of my life. Just like everyone else, we have had our ups and our downs, but you have always been with me. You are such a hard worker, and are hella motivated to accomplish your dreams. I know that it is hard to complete your classwork when you dont have a computer of your own. I would like you to have your own laptop. I know with the right tools you will do everything you ever wanted.

I would give the 4th laptop to the Oakland Children's hospital and research center. They work with children who have leukemia. I think it is an amazing organization.

  27. Hi there – not sure if we are just supposed to have an account, or comment for the entry… so I have an account and will leave a comment as well :)

One of the common themes has been, what would you do if you won? Here is what I would do:
First, I would replace our aging family laptop, but more importantly I would give one to my wife so she can finally have her own computer. (Neither is in the Christmas budget this year.)

Secondly, I would see if anything would be of use to my (fire) dept. – I am guessing the photosmart the guys would have a lot of fun with and actually use productively. (Well sometimes.)

Last, I would share online as well by having a contest of my own on supergeekblog.com – not only would it be a blast, bring a lot of new readers, but someone I don’t even know would have a better holiday season as well.

So winning would have a positive, lasting, impact on myself and others

  28. I am entering this contest because I would like to further support the School for Arts in Learning (SAIL) in Washington, DC. SAIL is a unique K-8 public charter school providing multiple creative environments, opportunities, and experiences for inner city youth through arts-infused academic programs. They take underprivileged and special needs students and use the arts in order to help them through their immediate situations, many of which are quite dire. By using a special arts-infused method of teaching, SAIL thinks outside the box in order to come up with innovative methods of serving children and youth with differing learning styles. They have developed a specialized curriculum using the arts to help children learn in ways that match their learning styles, paying special attention to individual learning styles and specific need. Their focus is on developing the whole child, intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially.

This school is unique because they take kids that society has given up on and they give them hope. Through a rigorous education schedule and intensive, artistic training, they turn these kids into good students and good citizens. The school also engages the community in pretty unique ways. For example, one can submit a picture of their pet to the school and, for a fee, one of the students will create a work of art based on this picture. The artwork is shown first in a public gallery, before going to the owner. This unique system teaches the student responsibility, creativity and the results of putting in a hard days work. I have been to one of their exhibitions and it is amazing the quality of work that these students can attain.

However, this is a public school and is heavily dependent on donations, which are increasingly few and far between. Because they are not for profit, there is a constant struggle for resources. Times are tough right now and not many people are donating, including my family, not because they do not want to, but because they cannot. As the year draws to a close, their donations are down significantly.

While traditional art practices, such as oils and watercolors, are important, the SAIL school also wants to provide their students with more cutting edge, computer based education. I would like to help them significantly in this effort through the donation of computers and software. There are not words to express what this would mean to the school and scores of children. These kids have lived through harder times than most of us will ever see and they deserve this second chance. They deserve the opportunity to explore themselves and the world around them through art and intellectual curiosity. Please help me give an amazing present to these kids; one which will resonate through generations of students.

  34. Wow I can't wait!!!

The only thing I would keep would be the desktop because that would help me with college since my family can't afford a computer and I've been using the library for years :( .
The rest I will give it to my local library because I'm so thankful that there was a place to learn and use a computer no mater your income. The library has helped me get this far in life since I never had a computer and now I want other people to know that with determination anyone can go to college if you just have some hope.
    Good luck to everybody :D

  35. Hi i want to actualize mi pc, i want to keep the HP Touchsmart.. and i really want to give a notebook to my sister.. she actually need one and can't afford for it. Here in argentina its a bit hard to save money for a pc (consider thai i only win 600 usd a month, and most of it pays for social security, rent, etc..) and specially one with a good brand (HP, Bell, Compact, etc)
I want to gift my wife with Hp mini, so she can use it to teach at the university, and make presentations for science congress…..

  37. I hope to win one of these Magic Giveaways because I am a single mom in desperate need of a computer in this house!

We had a leak from my basement, through the ceiling, into my living room, and onto my pc that fried my power supply and 8-in-1 smart drive, and unfortunately I don't have renters insurance and my landlord could care less about my loss!

my three kids are 14, 12, & 9, and regularly need to use the pc for reports, papers, and projects. So regularly (a couple of times a week) I have to drive them to the library or to a friend's house depending on what they need to do (print in color, etc). It has gotten old quick.

Plus I do a lot of blogging, twittering, entering contests, and reading reviews, and until I get a pc I have to use my cell phone to do, like right now.

Thanks so much for this chance!!!!

    Good luck to all!

  39. The Children's Wish Foundation in Atlanta will get the majority of the winnings if I was so blessed. I'm assisting my wife in her new start-up and I'm making my way into commercial music composition. We've been limping along on my old P2 that I bought 6 years ago, right before we got married. Yep…I said P2 and with a 18GB HD :) So we'd definitely make good use of the notebooks.

    This is a wonderful opportunity.

    Peace and blessings.

  40. I'm about to launch a public relations consultancy firm that will give pro bono services to various charities and foundations. Having HP computers will be a helpful boost to jumpstart my advocacy in promoting note-worthy projects of organizations such as the Virlanie Foundation (http://www.virlanie.org/), which aims to shelter street children in Manila. I will also donate the extra computers to them, providing them with valuable tools in communicating with donors all over the world. Overall, the HP package will put to good use, supporting not just my noble cause but others' as well. Cheers!

  42. hey so i'm glad i entered this contest and i really hope i win… i could really benefit from the prize since i know so many people that i would like to give a piece of to…

first of all i would like to give a laptop to my uncle who justy lost his jib, maybe it'll cheer him up a little..
second of all, i want to give another laptop to the helper in my house that comes to clean it every thursday, because recently, somebody broke into her home and stole 2000$ that she had been saving in a small safe.. she is really in need!!
finally i would give a laptop to my sister because she just got a first serious job so she'll need one!!!

    Sieee
  43. Fantastic prize package!

    iwalser
  44. If I was lucky enough to win this package I would donate two of the laptops and the printer to my niece and nephew. My sister and her husband have been going through some tough times lately and Christmas looks like it will be pretty bleak at their place this year.

As if the harsh times weren't enough, my sister is now off work recovering from an operation she had last week to remove a tumor.
I'm sure gifts like this would truly help to lift spirits and help relieve the financial burden a little bit.

I would keep the Touchsmart PC and the Media Server for myself :)

  50. I would keep the desktop and printer and whatever is needed for the printer. I need that for my 3 kids and myself. We have a 5 year old computer that we bought used. It keeps freezing up on us. And I don't have a printer at all. I would give a laptop to my aunt who needs one to keep in touch with her son. She also can't afford one. I would give the little laptop to my husbands nephew who will go to college next year and he will need one. He will be the first in that family to go to college so we are very proud of him. The rest of it I would probably give some to the local library and the rest to my daughters school. Thanks so much for this chance.

  51. I would really love the Touchsmart computer! It's so incredible! I would give the laptops to some of my relatives.

  52. I wish everyone could win this! So many sob stories, life's hard for everyone right now, and it just makes me feel worse reading them :( ….

I've realized that many of the websites hosting this giveaway is encouraging sob stories, I'm staying away from them…shame on them for making people beg and plead for a chance to win this. This shouldn't be the season for self pity or of gaining pity from others! I don’t mind jumping through hoops for a chance to win but don’t make me feel like an ass for wanting to win instead of a 70-year-old grandma’s with arthritis in need of the HP touchsmart! Thanks for making it so easy to enter, Gadgetell. I’m sure no one is going to win this and keep it all to them selves.

  57. I have a friend who started by helping us determine how to tile our bathroom. He also helped us with cabinet issues and many other parts of the project. We have tried to return the favor but every time he does something back for us. I like to pay it forward. I want to give the PC to his family as his wifes business recently hit hard times and she now works for Target. They have 3 kids, so I plan to give them a PC, printer and software etc.

I also plan to see if any of my other friend need my current laptop as I am tired of hauling around an 8lb gorilla and would love the HP mini 1000.

My current PC is an HP 8000n that works find but I would love the interface of the Touchsmart IQ816 and we can have that more reasonably situated in the living area. . I would then use the media center to stream the videos etc to my living room.

  60. I was married 30 years, when, on my then husband's 50th birthday, (10 yr's ago), I gave him his birthday card, he said, "Thanks – I want a divorce; be out of here in 60 days." He had somebody on hold. I had put him through college and worked on and off during the marriage for family vacations, second cars, etc., but I had never worked to support myself. Suddenly, with my family grown and out of the house, I was on my own at 50.
That’s when I found “The Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center.” Faced with being a displaced empty nester, (the name for this “Baby Boomer” phenomenon), I found their adult re-entry computer education program. It not only helped me get a job; it got me through one of the most difficult times in my life.
The Center changes to meet the needs of the community, but their goal remains the same – to provide opportunities to improve lives.
Now at 60+, I’m still on my own but I’ve had the same good job for 8 yrs and I just started blogging. I know Mary Rigg gave me my opportunities and I like to give back.

    Here is Mary Rigg http://www.maryrigg.org/w/driving.aspx
    and here is me http://www.kateswindow.com.

If I’m your winner, since my computer is 6 yrs old and reconditioned, I take meeting notes, etc. I’d like the PC, the Mini 1000, and the larger notebook – everything else, please send, with love, to Mary Rigg.

  62. The reasons I would like to win are many.

Right now I work from home for Alpine Access.com. My husband is disabled and on medicare and even though he has medical I an still young and don't.
Working from home has been so beneficial I have helped several women, who also take care of their disabled spouses, apply for work. I have lent them my extra set of headphones and laptop until they could afford their own. Needless to say my laptop has seen better days. (It still runs on win 2000).
I would like to be able to give away instead of just lend computers to some of these women.

  66. The first thing I'd do would be to set up the HDX 18 for my mum. I'm so tired of doing all kinds of stuff (look for apartments etc.) on the internet for her.

Then I'd set up the IQ816 for myself and install Windows 7 so I could finally try out the much-touted multi touch experience Microsoft is pushing with Win7.

The rest I'd take down to the local fountain house and set up for the people there. They're worth every bit of encouragement and support (I have a niece at the local fountain house). For more info about what a Fountain House is: http://www.fountainhouse.org/moxie/who/

  79. What is love without caring, and what is caring without sharing? That is where the magic comes in. Though it will be like magic for me to own a Laptop for the first time, I will also be happy knowing that some people through my winning felt the HP MAGIC. I would also like the news media, major Newspapers and TV stations such as Africa Independent Television (AIT) Silverbird TV, Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), etc., in my country, to share in the MAGIC news, maybe FrontPage news or some interviews. You will be amazed to know how this will surprise a lot of people. Can Africa feel the magic too? If I win, I would like to share thus:

    (1) I'll give HP Pavilion dv4-1143go Notebook with Windows or dv4-1145go Entertainment Notebook with Windows, HP Mini 1000 Series with Windows and kungfu Panda (DVD Blu-ray + Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007 to HOPE Family Ministries, Inc. Center of HOPE, Stockbridge, GA 30281, USA. Reason: They have an all girls program GEMS – Girls who Empower, Mentor and Succeed. They are starting an interactive workshops with girls from Swaziland, Africa. They need updated computer hardware to complete this project. I really don't know much about them, but I prefer to give the items to those who would not go ahead and sell them, which I believe they will not do. They advertised for this assistance. Their website is: http://www.hopefamilyministries.org

    (2) HP HDX 18 series Premium Notebook PC with windows to a former neighbor who now lives 6 kilometers away from me but still comes to my office twice a day, (morning and evening) to use my computer, that is if there is electric power (because mine is a desktop). It’s not news that sometimes we have like 1 hour-a-day power supply, sometimes we get lucky and get about 6 hours-a day. But with a laptop you can get it charged the period there is power supply. Most of her business is done online, but she dreads going to cyber cafes which abound everywhere and which has virtually been taken over by scammers. And you don’t want to be found among such persons. She continually prays to get a laptop, on loan, hire-purchase or by HP MAGIC.

    (3) The HP Photosmart C6380 Wireless AIO, and HP 564 Series Photo Value Pak goes to my brother who runs a business center and uses an old printer, DeskJet 895Cxi printer. This machine will be priceless to him.

I’m a 47 year old man and only want what I need. I need a mobile computer that I can travel with, because my computer is also my office. I would like to keep the HP TouchSmart IQ816 PC, Corel VideoStudio X and HP MediaSmart Connect. These will help me immensely as I also go into the business of music and home movie editing which requires updated computer hardware and software. My Computer system is an OmniTech PC Pentium 3, 648 Mhz, 224Mb, and 7.5 Gb HD, which I replaced with a 60Gb HD. I also use it as a TV because I installed a PCI TV Capture card in it. The Monitor is a Dell 14 inch. My former system was a P2 which was damaged by a surge in power supply, which was due to erratic power supply.

I’ll give my present computer to a family with 5 children (2 in the university) because they need a computer as well as a TV. Since I have a TV card installed in the computer they can now have a replacement for their TV which has visited the repairman several times and is still with the repair man. Also there is a DVD ROM in the system for them to use in playing DVDs.

This is my story, this is my song
Praising my savoir all the day long.

  81. First accolades to yourself and HP for this fantastic giveaway. I'm not giving a sob story or I can save Eskimos from ice storms. I am just going to say I have a lot of people that will benefit from these prizes, including family. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Happy Holidays.

    Thanks for a great giveaway.

  83. Well I want the gaming laptop for myself. But as for the other prizes. I'd give the other laptop to my sister who just recently asked me to buy her a computer. Her son (my nephew) who is 5 would of course get the Kung Fu Panda. My best friend (who was laid off) who has been talking about having a netbook for the better part of a year would get the Mini along with the printer and cartridge, be a nice gift for her. My mother who has a Compaq from I want to say eight years ago…with the specs of: 10GB HD, 64MB RAM, basically the computer's only function is to gather dust at this point because it is SO SLOW! she would of course get the desktop with the cool touch screen…quite a leap for her. I guess I'd keep the media center cause I dunno who else I'd give that to who would know how to use it. I already have MSOffice2007 on my computer, so I'd simply install it on my mom's new desktop, my sister's new laptop and my best friend's new netbook, for them.

  97. I am like everyone else wanting and needing $6,000.00 worth of computers. I would definately donate quite a bit of this also. There is a local womens shelter that definately needs it. The local school sure could use it ( don't know where our tax money goes, not into the schools from what I see) I have had so many hand me down computers and printers its amazing and I have been thankful for every one! If I could just win this one time, I would probably die of a heart attack or just plain shock!! Well its almost Christmas, so let me wish everyone a Very Happy Holiday and Good luck I am sure the one who needs and deserves it the most will win!

  101. I was going to write a story to tell you all about why my husband could really use this but I decided to tell you what has happened to us in the last 2 weeks. We have been through an awful lot and winning this amazing package would be such a bright spot in this dreary month for us!!

-It all started the week before Thanksgiving when I got sick.
-Then I got my 9 month old sick.
-November 20th-I got a phone call that my Uncle had died of pneumonia.
-Son's cold turned into an ear infection
-November 23rd-My Grandpa died of Cancer
-My husband and I drove 6 hours with our son to my grandpa's funeral. Work has been really slow lately and we are pretty strapped for cash but we took the time off of work to go.
-Get back into town and find out my son needs hernia surgery on December 11th!!
-My work is closed due to a power outage across our city
-December 3rd My husband totaled my truck and we find out we have to spend $550 for our deductible and $130 in fines because, even though he was going 15 mph, he was driving too fast for conditions.
-During the car accident, my husband was only mildly hurt but his computer was crushed due to the impact of the tree through the passenger side window. He is an IT guy for a Dental Office in town and his computer is his life. We are far from being able to afford to replace his laptop and if I were to win this contest I would be able to give the man that I love a new start.

Winning this contest would help us to start rebuilding our lives. We have seen far too much devastation in the last 3 weeks. I would donate at least 1 computer to the school that I work for. I tutor underprivileged, special-needs high school students and I know that they would be thrilled with a new computer to work with!

Thank you for this opportunity. Happy Holidays!

    Maggie Smith

At dads i have a desktop, so its ok here). It would be awesome to win, good luck to everyone.

  126. Where to begin explaining what I would do if I won….My current computer is literally made from pieces of 4 computers from the trash as well as a burner I just got form a friend. To all you techno geeks, my total hard drive space is only 4 GB (2-2GB hard drives) . So I definitely have a use for the computer. My local library has been on the town's fiscal chopping block for a year now and is in need of donations of computer items and educational software to keep in operation. I volunteer for non-profit Aids outreach organization that can use any technology donations it can get and my wife works at an impoverished school district as a special education aide. Her students love using a computer and are always in need of software that will engage them in learning. I definitely can put this prize to good use and pay it forward as well.

  138. I will share most of it. Don't need more than a Notebook/Netbook (haven't decided yet).

I want gift/help friends, family and my old techers who have started an association to help less favored children from "not conventional" families to keep a smile and have an opportunity. They have asked me to help them anyway I can and now this opportunity has landed in the precise moment to try it.
Don't expect much since must be zillions of people trying but, It's Christmas and Hope is here…

  142. My reasons for wanting to win this contest is difficult to right because as I write the words they become more realistic. Please believe me when I tell the hardships my family has endured. First My mom lost her father and a younger and older brother within a 3 year span. It has been hard on her and I see her cry when she talks about them. Shortly after this she became disabled, she won't tell us everything she has or if it was the deaths of her family members, but I do know she has agoraphobia. I am 23 and I have 2 more sisters one who is 22 and one who will be 16 shortly. I have cancer and just had my cervex removed. My 22 year old sister is disabled with melonoma cancer, which is weird because she has never liked being in the sun. She is also agoraphic (correct spelling?) Myself and my 22 year old sister have a very rare blood disorder called inherited Dysfibrinogenemia. They say they don't know alot about the disease. But I think it is causing the cancer in us. There are only about 300 people in the entire world who have this form of the disease. If I won this contest I would give my mom and my sisters computers. Because mom and sis doesn't leave the house and this way they could have a life to read the news or anything they choose. My youngest sister stays at home for e-schooling on a computer provides by the school, only schoolwork is allowed on it. she has to be here to help my disabled family if something happens. Please let me pay it forward and help my family. Any old computers or broken ones (because that's all we have) will go to http://www.atohio.org/computers.html This is a great site for disabled persons to get a used computer, they only have to pay shipping. One computer per household. Because my mom received one from here I would like to pay it forward to this site that helps the disabled. They aren't the best computers, slow and not up to par, but will help someone if they really need one. Please choose my family, so that we can help the disabled people who really need help. Like us who pay bills online, and get to have a life, when they can't leave the house do to the diseases. I hope we win, but if we don't then I have sent you to a site that will help others. Happy Holidays everyone.

    tashie247
  143. This is an awesome give away.
I've won a few small over the years, like a t-shirt or a hat, but never anything like this!
I would keep one for myself, give one to my wife (whose a computer nut) and share the others with our kids who are all grown…….what a great Christmas this would make for everyone,
Thank you for offering such a neat give away.

  144. Hello there!

My name is Steven De Filippis. I have been looking at all of the Blogs that are containing the HP Magic Giveaway. Gadgetell is one of them. So, I've read all of the rules and this is my post.

Now, At my local school St. Andrews, We do not have computers however, our secretaries, and some teachers have computers but are only used for special purposes such as report cards, student information, etc. We unfortunately haven't been given the advantage to go use one. At our school we have a group called Luke 4:18 (Get involved, Make a difference). I am part of it. Our group helps our community and the world. We are currently in the process of raising money for Vision life – Build a stable. This charity well help give kids in Africa, Animals. This will provide food, comfort, and more to the children of Africa. This is a description on what our group does. However, we would like to plan more events like this to raise money for charity. Unfortunately our school does not contain any Computers, so we are unable to contact other organizations and to type a letter to send home asking for donations. So we were going to plan on using every piece of hardware from this giveaway to organize more events as I described above. We will also use the equipment for school tasks that will be available to all students in our school. I will now describe how we will use the hardware:

HP Touchsmart PC, HP HDX Laptop, HP Mini 1000 – These will be used to help organize charity events.

HP MediaSmart Connect – This item will be used to store movies or videos in our library.

HP Photosmart C6380 Wireless AIO Printer, HP 564 Series Photo Value Pack – These items will be used to print notices to the students of our school for upcoming events.

Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007 – This software will be used to type out all of our upcoming events.

Corel VideoStudio X2 – We will only provide this software to the intermediate students who are interested in Multimedia courses free of charge.

Kung-Fu Panda – We will use this movie to entertain the little ones in our school.

We would like to thank you for giving everyone this opportunity.

    Thank you!

    Steven De Filippis

  161. oh my god! i REALLY want to win this contest, or at least SOMETHING! i've always loved HP stuff, but never had the money for it. Any one of these products will definitely help improve my life FOR SURE, especially another computer, cause we only have one…and it's getting old…

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me win!!

  163. Hi,

I, like some of the other people who have left comments above, have entered many of the other contests. So far, no luck. It really is a shame too because i"m planning on keeping only the desktop and 1 laptop for my own home-based business (my gear could seriously use an upgrade!) and sharing the rest of the prize.
I've decided my cause this year would be donating to helping children with learning disabilities, particularly autistic kids. So 1 laptop will be donated to my friend's business that makes kits for children with such needs, and another part of the prize will be donated to the Fletcher Academy (a school specifically for children with special needs).
What I have left over will be going to 2 of my unemployed friends in the hopes that they can get some help out of a new computer.
But frankly, this is the most frustrating holiday season I've EVER seen–what with nearly everyone I know being unemployed at this time, foreclosures right and left, everyone in debt, and the economy in the toilet. Being able to share such a big prize would mean a lot for me, since I'd be able to spread a little cheer.
Ah well, hopefully whoever wins will be the most deserving. Things are hard everywhere.

    Amber the Seer
  164. Lets make a long story short.

One laptop i will be using, the rest plus the dvds will be hand delivered to my local hospital since i spent christmas there last year and it wasnt fun.

The hp touch will go to my school since they are having their 3rd 4 million dollar budget cut.

  165. This contest has come not a moment too soon in my life! I am a single parent of two children. My sister recently died and left behind four children of her own with no one to care for them. I stepped in, and now have all six children in my home. It has been very difficult, because my son has learning disabilities and requires home schooling.

I do not have my own computer, and so we make daily trips to the local library, but the time limits on the computers there are short at best. I am also a passionate animal rescuer and have fostered and adopted out many animals in the last ten years.

I am aware that the local animal control desperately needs updated computer equipment to better place the animals that so desperately need a home. Additionally, I tutor underprivileged children in Language Arts for the local school district. These computers could make a huge difference for them as well.

If I win this contest, I will do the following: Give one computer to the local animal control, give one computer to the local school for the students, and keep one for myself so that my son can use it for his home schooling needs. It would also be beneficial for my sister’s children to have a means of using the new computers as well. It would give them some happiness on Christmas morning.

Please consider my family in this contest. Thank you.

  167. This is just a great contest, giving everyone the chance to spread the magic of the holidays!

    My plans if I win?

Well I'd keep the TouchSmart for myself

The HDX18 would go to my Dad – all he does is work with computers! He's a software developer working in NY state, and I know he'd love a fresh start with a new computer!

The Mini 1000 is definitely my Mom's! She's not exactly computer savvy, but I'm sure I could convince her (she's a stay-at home Mom) to accept it and play around with it! It would make it just that much easier for her to check her email, and stay mobile at anytime (And I know she can't handle Vista yet! So the XP is GREAT!)

Hmmm… The dv4t would be my Aunt's. She's working a lot, and also traveling – this 14" notebook would make SUCH a good gift for her and her family for the holidays!

The Photosmart Printer would go my Dad's business, as he most likely prints TONS of spreadsheets and things like that! (lol)

Kung Fu Panda is SO going to my two little cousins! (They're 3 and 5 yrs old) That would be AWESOME for them!! I know they like movies like that, And they already have a DVD player – that would make a perfect gift!

All in all, I REALLY hope I win, I'd loooove to give the gift of Magic!

  168. This is sooo Cool….I can't do essays, I have been doing them all week (final exams)…..

I am a second year college student and this will be nice. My mom just retired so times will be rough for the first few months. More than likely I would giveaway 2 laptops; one for my brother, who just moved away from home, and the other to one of my friends or family during our family Christmas exchange. I would keep the touchsmart pc and give it to my mom since we had the same desktop computer since 1999 (originally windows ME but upgraded it to XP). I would keep the pavilion notebook since the dell notebook II have now crashes every so often (deleting my documents too, lol).

…..anyway THANKS for the opportunity to enter……this would serve as a nice Christmas present and will be a good B-day present for me and my brother (his birthday is January and mine February)

    LinuxOne
  175. This isn't going to be a save the world story but I hope readers will
still be interested. I will start with how this package will effect me since that's
the least important. Okay, I will attempt to stray away from the sob stories.
Anyways I am 19 years old and I never went to college, I couldn't afford it and
My family moved way too much for it to work out, recently though I have been getting
into classes on line, I'm attempting to become a network administrator but that requires
me to have a working computer, my current one is horrible. It crashes randomly, and I am
constantly asking tech support forums for their help, having a new laptop would just enable
so much. I can not even begin to tell you how much. I have a desk top now and the portable
does not exist, when I heard about these give aways that was the first thing that came to my
mind, then I realized what else I could do if I won the package.

My sister is 22 and she just had her second baby, she is doing very well taking care of
them, but she can not afford anything not absolutely necessary. She has a computer now but it
is horrible, ads that have flash cause he computer to crash, she can not go on a lot of the
sites that she introduced me to, it's not a very fun thing to know. If I win this contest, and
I know I won't :( she without a doubt in my mind deserves a new laptop, on top of that I want
her to bhave the printer, she loves taking pictures of her babies and being able to print them
out would be amazing. I want to be able to give her something but I know I'm not able to.

The touchsmart, which I guess you could say is the most notable piece here; would go to my
Grandma, my grandma is almost 70 years old and everything she watches has a website. She loves
watching animal planet and Hgtv. She has asked me to show her how to use the computer so she
can go online but her eyes aren't the greatest so she can't see the little pointer, and she
has arthritis so using the mouse can be painful at times. As of right now her life is probably
less than what she would want, she eats/sleeps/watches tv. She used to be extremely active.
She is 0 native American and she grew up on a reservation and she dealt with racism and
she worked her entire life, this is something she more than deserves, it would mean everything
to her. Not just as a new item in her life but as a connection to more people than just her
neighbors, she has been wanting to look up one of her brothers who moved to Hawaii a long time
ago and if she had this it would put her on the right track. This is probably the most important
part of the package, I wish you guys knew how much she has been through and how much this would
    effect her.

The Hp-mini, would go to my step mom as a Christmas present, she is always on the go and hardly
home but can't afford more than a note-pad. Her and my Dad are trying to start a restaraunt and
catering buisiness and this would help them a lot. They are always writing stuff down and this mini
would be a portable godsend for them.

The mediacenter would be for my Dad, without a doubt. We don't have a lot of computers or anything
but this would be a very nice addition and he would love it. I am aware they're just computers and
it may seem like they wouldn't have sucha large impact, but this package would likely give my
family a nice boost, and hopefully help me finish getting my 'degree', thanks for reading.

  178. I'm related to the Mother Teresa’s Missionaries Of Charity here in Calcutta (India) which deals with Child Education & Child Sexual Abuse Issues.

We don’t have enough computers here in our organization.Around 150 kids are sharing 10 old desktops.Computer education is so much important these days. So, it would have been great if they can get to use more computers for their education.I would love to share the computers (keeping the HP Printer with me) among our kids.I would love to play Santa in their lives in this coming X-Mas by gifting them the computers.I would love to see them smiling because they barely get a chance to smile.
If you are interested, here are some of the pics of the kids :- " http://www.flickr.com/photos/33248598@N02 " .

I hope you feel that our organization is deserving. Thank you.

  179. Well, I'm in — hopefully in time. I think I saw someone say that existing members are ALSO in the pool — if I understand how these forums usually work, "existing members" may include usernames covered with cobwebs and extremely unlikely to respond… Although unless email addresses have changed over time — and this hasn't been around THAT long, has it?? — somebody who hasn't even BEEN here in some time may just get a very surprising email soon. Wait, that could match ME too…

  207. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone! I would love to keep one of the notebooks. I would love to have the opportunity to donate the rest of the computers to an amazing children's center and home called the Hillside Children's Center in our town. This is a place for both children without parents and/or children who has been abused and it is a wonderful safe place for them to stay. They need so much there and many of the children are of the age where they need computers to work on their homework and school projects. I am more than willing to work with Gadgetell to insure that this is indeed where my computers are going. I have wanted to be able to give back to my community in a manner that is significant and will truly make a positive influence to more than just one person. I clearly see this as an opportunity that perhaps will allow me to achieve this wish and desire that I have! I want to thank you so much for the opportunity to enter your incredible giveaway!

  210. I would keep just what me and my husband would need for school, and I would donate the rest to the WIC office with the stipulation that they give it to a mom who needs it for going back to school. For those who don't know WIC stands for Women Infants and Children and they help pregnant and nursing moms and their children with making sure they get all the proper nutrition during the most crucial years of the child's life. My WIC office has helped me greatly, they gave me a referral so I could get a crib for my daughter and they gave me a rental breast pump to use when I decided to go back to school. They also gave me a lot of support throughout my pregnancy between twice daily shots of blood thinners, my first surgery ever ( a c-section), my blood clots a few weeks after the baby was born, and my decision to go back to school.

  211. I really need a computer, and I would give a laptop to my my computer-less older sister as well. Going to college sucks with a computer that can't do anything.

    estherann
  212. The mini I would keep for myself. I've been saving for one for quite a while so to win one would be great!

The Pavilion would go to my sister who is a student. She could really need a new a new computer! The DVDs would go to her as well. Sure she is supposed to study but what is studying if one is not prograstinating once in a while! ;)

The Microsoft pack will come in handy the numoruos times I'm helping family and friends to get their old/new computers up and running. Did it twice this month already so that package would be great!

The rest of the gear would go to my best friend ever! During the past years he has helped me to get my life back on track in a way that goes way beyond the usual understanding of friendship. He is a poor, unemployed photo artist so the gear would really help him. It's high time that he get his own life going again. He has used too much time helping other people while putting his own life on hold. A more true friend I don't think anybody will ever meet.

Best of luck to all and wishes for a merry christmas from Denmark!

  214. Dear HP Giveaway,
This Christmas season, unlike the others, I would like to give back to my family. Never once have I been able to find the time to work a part-time job in time for the holidays and even now my younger siblings are working themselves.
Recently, my brother has been going to the same university as I have for the past two years and we’ve had a sort of falling out with our lives becoming more individualized. It had only come to my attention a little over a month ago when I had a small conversation with him that his current laptop finally outlived its usefulness and broke down. I know how much that laptop meant to him as he would spend hours on it working on schoolwork, playing games and talking to friends. If there was any other second home to him represented as an item, then it would be his laptop. So in the spirit of love family, not even the holidays, I’d like to hand to him a new HP HDX Premium notebook pc to replace his cherished, but not forgotten laptop. Maybe it’s as simple as giving him a new laptop that we could rediscover our brotherhood through items like these once more.
Another individual in my family that I would like to grant a surprise Christmas present to is my younger sister. Although she may be one year younger than my brother and even though she is in college, she is still my baby sister. She’ll always be that someone who I have to protect and care for regardless of our situation. Right now, the funds of our family is coming to its end concerning payments for our college education, especially hers with only a few hundreds left. In order to relieve the financial stress both on my parents and her as well as the inconvenience of her always walking to the computer lab late at night to study, I figured it be best for her to receive the HP Pavilion notebook. With her expanding opportunities and memories in college, there would be no better way to store and manage these things with this notebook, but this goes not without mentioning its performance capabilities and data storage/transfer management for keeping up with her assignments and reading materials for class.
One exceptional person I would love to give a present to would be my girlfriend, whose head is nearly as big as her heart (lol haha, just kidding). There has been no other person so far that I respect and love as I do her. In fact, she’s much better than I am in most things like being responsible, clean, nice, funny, caring, and thoughtful and a bunch of things that I’m not. Ok, before I continue, in my personal defense against myself, I just want to emphasize how much of life she has in order than I do and it’s only fitting for someone like me to show my gratitude for learning so much from her. Everyone including myself would agree that her current laptop is of no better use to her than a cement brick that’s marked up with the words laptop. So to make her life easier and mine, she’d be given the HP Mini, lightweight and cute as a button just like her, a smart thinker too.
It goes without showing that one of the most important women in a person’s life is his mother. Now I can’t say too much about my mother’s ability to use or even understand how to turn on a computer, but a mother always deserve something for the hard, back-breaking work they do to keep a family together and happy. No other in the person in the world that I know of cares more about our family than she does and to make it easy for her to forget the difficulties of life and remember all the precious memories she created then the wonderful media management of the HP TouchSmart, HP Photosmart, and HP MediaSmart connect would best be given to her. In this way she can store all the videos and pictures that she’s gathered over the years and have a convenient way to print and show off to her wonderful family to her friends. I’m quite confident that my father will take part whole-heartedly to teach my mother how to make use of all this technology. (If not, then at least they can watch silly movies and poke fun at pictures together at home of their “all growed up kids”).
Compared to me, I deserve no such luxuries with my mistakes, misfortunes and mishaps. All I care to see is that I can finally give something back this holiday season, something nice-looking and useful to people I care most for. Simply, I would like to see my family close together once again and light up a room with our smiling faces. Nothing more, not even gifts like these would match up to what it would be like to see us all smiling at the same time this Christmas.

    Happy Holidays Everyone,

  219. Thank you for hosting a great contest and a wonderful opportunity to "share the love". Its great that these collective prizes will impact so many lives in a powerful, positive way.
If I was fortunate enough to win, I would love to be able to gift a computer to my daughter who is working diligently in establishing independent functionality as a young, autistic adult. Our large family (includes 5 kids) has very limited financial resources, and having her own computer would be therapeutic and allow her to blog, take online courses, network socially and really take advantage of all the positive attributes that the internet has to offer.
I would also love to gift a needy family through the Endependence Center (http://www.endependence.org/) a wonderful, local organization in my area that has been instrumental in providing transitional services for my daughter and many other families with disabilities. My daughter and I tutor there once a week, and we know first hand that this gift would really change a person's life.
Lastly, I would love to win a laptop for myself (we have one old desktop for our 7 member family) and gift a laptop to a co-worker & close friend who is a struggling, single, young Mom. She and I are both nurses at at a Local hospital here in Virginia. We have promised to see each other through acquiring our degrees together (we're enrolled together at Indiana State University's online RN-BSN program) and this would be a blessed and most useful gift.

    Twincere8
  220. If I win, I will donate the netbook to the Oakland Children's hospital and my current PC will go to charity. I already have a working printer so I'll donate the new printer to charity as well. The Kung Fu Panda DVD will be donated to my local library. The Microsoft Office 2007 software will go to a college student that needs it since I already have Microsoft Office 2007 software. I will help geeks by writing a video review of each notebook and posting it in the Notebooks.com forums (the Corel software I win will be used for editting the videos). The Touchsmart PC will be used as a family computer, the HP HDX will go to me for my college assignments, the other HP laptop will go to my sister for her college work, and the HP Mini will go to my older sister for her college work (she travels alot and works full time).

    Shan Gee
  221. If I win I plan to donate it to the Save The Planet Krypton fund. I hope I am not too late.

    candes
  222. I thank HP for this opportunity. These would be my plans:
First, I will keep the HP DV4 laptop to replace my "ancient" laptop with a P3 750 MHz processor. It would be a very great help for my work as a part time graphic artist who always need a powerful laptop on the go. I will also share it with my little brothers and sisters. My old laptop will be given to my auntie who is a teacher
The HP mini will be given to my sister who is about to take college. She stopped studying for 3 years because of financial problems. It would be a very great help for her. I always wanted to give my family a good life. I want to give them something that they will not forget so I will keep the touchsmart PC and I am sure that my family would be very happy this Christmas.

    ver ivanz
  223. My old desktop and the photosmart printer will be donated to my elementary school( I graduated here, batch 1998) because they still dont have one and I want to make those children computer literate.
I really want to share the blessing to everyone , instead of just giving these to several persons only, this will be my plan so that more people can experience the spirit of Christmas. I will facilitate a fund raising campaign in the form of a raffle. I will sell raffle tickets and the remaining devices (HDX 18, Mediaconnect, etc.) will be the prizes.Once I have earned enough money, I will buy gifts for the poor families in my town who don't even have enough money to buy food to celebrate Christmas as they live only on the streets.
I would like to be a Santa Claus for them. I will buy food/clothing/candies/toys and I will distribute my blessings to them, specially those street childrens who haven't experienced celebrating Christmas. Some of them are as young as 2 years old, who just rely on eating left-over foods from the garbage. It breaks my heart when I see them. I still thank GOD because I am still lucky because I still eat three times a day. I live in the Philippines and there are many less fortunate persons here. I really dreamed that someday, I can put a smile in their hearts this Christmas, and if ever I will win these packages, I will be the happiest person in the world because I now have a chance to bring those less fortunate a chance to celebrate and feel the magic of Christmas at least once in their life.

    ver ivanz
  224. The remaining money will be donated to the GMA Kapuso Foundation.(http://www.kapusofoundation.com/)
Lastly, I will invite those street children in our house and I will serve food for them. I will show them the DVD Movie of Kung-Fu Panda on the Touchsmart PC, so this will be a very nice opportunity to show them the magic of Christmas.

Here are the pictures of the street childrens on our country.

I am willing to show pictures of them with a smile on their faces once I have given them the gifts. God Bless Us All…

  228. Hey, first off, I just wanted to compliment you on participating with HP and Microsoft on this wonderful contest, just in time for the holidays! Winning this contest would mean so much to me and my family this holiday season. I’m sure you probably don’t really want some sob story or anything, so ill try to keep it relatively light.
My name is Nikolas Harris, I’m from Canada. This year, I’ve been struggling with Christmas gifts for my family (mom, dad, sister). Basically, I have no means of getting money whatsoever. This HP package would be like a miracle to me, I would know that out in the world, there were nice people, that love to just go out and do random acts of kindness for other people in need.
My mom, dad, and sister, have been there for me through thick, and thin – and it’s been a struggle. Since I was one year old, I was diagnosed with JRA, which stands for Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. JRA is when your immune system (for some unknown reason) attacks your body, thus deteriorating your bone density and there is a high possibility of my bones fusing together. There have been a lot of ups and downs in my life (mostly downs) but they still stood by my side. Life can sometimes be a struggle because of the constant worries about this condition. I first had it in my pinky finger of my left hand. Then it spread to my left wrist, both my knees, and now my ankles. I’m learning to cope with having this disease in my system, and also with the steady dose of medications. But with the new medications, it isn’t cheap, medications cost a lot of money, and we had to seek help from the company to cover the huge cost of the medications. One of the medications that I’m currently taking is Humira. With the stable support of my family, and my friends, I’ve been doing quite well. The doctors told us that it wasn’t getting any better though. I go for regular blood work and MRI’s to check how my body is responding to the medications, and to see if they need to make a better plan of slowing down the disease.
Dealing with JRA has put a lot of stress on me, and I’ve been able to juggle my schoolwork, extracurricular activities, and my medications, all very well. I’m currently receiving high 90%’s in all my classes at school, I’m on the Student Leadership Team at my school, I’m an avid swimmer – mostly in the summers, I volunteer when I can (just recently at the local tree lighting), and I’m currently involved in a study to test a website, for teens like me that have JRA. It’s a site that helps teens cope with the disease. If all goes well, it could help tons of teens like me, feel better about their condition. Also it helps you learn more about your condition, and how to learn ways to calm the pain when you have “flair ups.”
Basically, since my family has been there for me 100%, I plan on splitting it up with them. Also, I plan on giving the Kung-Fu Panda DVDs to the IWK Children’s Hospital – where I have spent a lot of my time at. The doctors have been so helpful, and supportive. I would give it to the Rheumatology department. It would go to the place where kids have to go when they get joint injections (which I have had twice before) and where they get monthly doses of certain medications from a machine, through a tube in the arm. These kids (like me) have to stay there for the most of the day, or even the whole day, and this would provide them with some more entertainment. Also, I am thinking of donating my older computer to my friend’s brother’s daycare, or to the IWK Children’s Hospital. My sister, who has been there for me, always being very supportive of me, is graduating this year and also having her 18th birthday on December 17th. She has applied to Dalhousie University. She plans on majoring in Radiology – because of me and my constant MRI’s. She loves working with children, and it would be good for her. She needs a laptop for her studies, but since university costs a lot, and money is tight, we can’t afford to get her one, so I would be giving one of the laptops with software, to her for her birthday and Christmas. She also works as a lifeguard, and constantly volunteers at the IWK and at the local library, reading to children (reading buddies). My mom has been there from the very beginning. Currently her computer and the printer that she uses are both messed up and in need of major repairs/replacements. I would be giving her a laptop or the TouchSmart desktop with the proper software. The current printer she uses prints unevenly, bleeds, and fades away a lot. The computer freezes, doesn’t respond, and the mouse triple clicks on everything that you choose. My dad would get either the TouchSmart, or the other laptop, with software also. He works full time to provide for our family, just so we can have a nice Christmas. He works long hours, and busy weeks. For myself, well I’ll probably just take the Mini 1000. It’s really all I need. I will also be keeping the photo editing software for myself, because I do a lot of photography, as it is one of my hobbies. The rest of the items that I didn’t mention would be split up among my family and/or the IWK.
Without them in my life, it would be nothing like it is today. I would probably be miserable, not having them with me. I truly am glad to have them. And I love them all :)
Well, that’s basically it. That’s a bit about my life, and also what I plan on doing with this wonderful package. I hope this entry has dazzled you in some way. I really appreciate you doing this contest, and allowing everyone to enter, it truly is magical, Thanks.

I just want to applaud everyone else that entered, and wish them good luck. Thanks so much in advance, even for considering me. Happy holidays! Have a good one!

  229. Please accept this simple essay as my entry for the HP-sponsored Gadgetell blog contest.

As a scholar finishing a Master's degree, I know that technology
increases the efficiency of research. The HDX 18 will serve me well as a powerful desktop-replacement platform for article- and
book-length projects. I'd love to use the HP mini as a portable platform for notes and research. The battery of my current four-year-old laptop will no longer hold a charge, and a replacement is too costly.

The Pavilion dv4 laptops could be of use to a fellow
graduate student, who does not have a personal computer. The individual is a hard worker, but like many graduate students is poor and cannot afford good computer hardware. I understand well the difficulty emerging scholars face without the convenience and necessity of a personal computing platform.

My wife, also a Master's student at the university, will enjoy the HP TouchSmart, the printer, and associated media components. They will also help record our first pregnancy and our child’s early years, so our families, who live far away from us, can participate in this exciting time. Photographs and movies are merely substitutes for the presence of family, but the media
can help maintain these important connections from across long distances.

I know that this is purely optional (the comment part) but I thought, what the hay…everyone else is doing it :)

I'd definitely be spreading the magic far and wide; everything from upgrading my own technology with new stuff, handing friends new stuff from the prize package and giving away my old computer, printer and such to others as well as giving movies to kids, licenses to friends and have a whole love of magic in the air around us!!!!!

Great giveaway and thanks again, This is so great!!!! I'm just hoping "luck" and prayers are with me today!!!!

    Merry Christmas everyone!!!!
