11 New Canon camcorders

For Canon, it seems much better to unload 1 unit short of a dozen camcorders rather than announced them one at a time. And so it just announced 11 new camcorders joining its already stable line-up of camcorders. Five of these camcorders belong to the VIXIA camcorder series and include the HF S10, HF S100, HF 20, and the HF200 Flash Memory Camcorders plus the Vixia HV40 HDV Camcorder. While the other six new standard definition camcorders are the FS22, FS21, and FS200 Flash Memory Camcorders, the Canon DC420 and DC410 DVD Camcorders, and Canon ZR960 MiniDV Camcorder.

As there are 11 of them, we will not go into full detailed review of each of them. Instead, we will try to summarize what each of these new camcorders have to offer in terms of key features and specs.

Canon Vixia HF S10 Flash Memory Camcorder – key features include an 8.59 Megapixel full HD CMOS Image Sensor, 32GB Internal Flash drive storage or SDHC memory card, face detection technology, dual shot modes, advanced Auto Exposure system and Video snapshot.

Canon Vixia HF S100 Flash Memory Camcorder – like the HF S10, this camcorder also features an 8.59 Megapixel HD CMOS sensor, DIGIC III Image processor, and the rest of the other features of the HF S10 minus the 32GB internal Flash drive storage. This camcorder only supports SDHC memory card for video storage.

Canon Vixia HF20 Flash Memory Camcorder – featuring a compact form factor, this camcorder boasts a 3.89 Megapixel Full HD CMOS Image Sensor, advanced auto exposure system, dual shot modes, a Canon 15x Video Lens, and support for both internal Flash drive and SDHC memory card.

Canon Vixia HF200 Flash Memory Camcorder – this is the counterpart of the HF S100 and as such also has similar features with the HF20 except for the fact that you can only use an SDHC memory card like the HF S100 for storing videos you took using this camcorder.

Canon VIXIA HV40 HDV Camcorder – following up on the highly praised Vixia HV30, the HV40 HDV camcorder features a 10x HD Video Lens and a 2.96 Megapixel Full HD CMOS Sensor. It also records video at 24fps on a HDV tape, and has a Custom Key Mode key which lets allows you to set a function to a particular button on the camera for quick access anytime.

Looking now into the six standard definition camcorders would give us the Canon FS22, FS21 and FS200 Flash Memory Camcorders. The FS21 features a 32GB internal Flash memory while the FS22 has only 16GB capacity. But both boast a 48x advanced zoom. While the FS200 uses an SDHC memory card for its storage. The FS200 will be available in misty silver, sunrise red and evening blue color design.

Next we have the Canon DC420 and DC410 DVD camcorders and the ZR960 MiniDV Camcorder. Differentiating the two camcorders are the DC420’s 48x advanced zoom and the DC410’s 41x advanced zoom feature. In addition, both camcorders also boast a DIGIC DV II Image Processor, widescreen recording, and support optional add-on features including filters and lens accessories.

Finally, we have the Canon ZR960 which is geared for the novice digital photo enthusiasts and users. Its key features include a 41x Advanced Zoom, microphone terminal to enhance audio of video recording, and also some add-on features like filters and lens accessories.

So, that’s it. Which new Canon digital camera would you want to buy?
