Motosurf new touchscreen phone from motoMotorola let three phones creep out this morning, one of which is a snazzy looking touchscreen phone. I’ve been chastising Moto for their slow phone development, especially when it comes to replacing the RAZR with something worthy. The three phones released today, while interesting, lead me to believe the companies troubles won’t be solved any time soon.

The MotoSurf A3100 looks like an interesting phone. Featuring support for a 32GB SD card, two cameras, a skin GUI over Windows 6.1 (suggesting Windows Mobile 7 is a ways off still), a 2.8″ display, a-GPS and good looks. So what leads me to believe this won’t be the company’s standard bearer?

The US isn’t going to see this phone for now, maybe ever except in the hands of Asian or Latino tourists. The phone has no US release date today. Companies bring their A-game when launching something in the US and typically US is launched first. By going a non-US route, Moto seems to be saying this isn’t the phone you seek.

One of the other two phones released were an uber-green phone admirably comprised of recycled plastic bottles and a carbon neutral footprint. Kudos to Moto for putting this out. Product packaging was also addressed to reduce waste. T-Mobile USA will be seeing the renew this quarter. Sweet.

The last phone was a military spec phone with two microphones to cut out background noise. You can bet I’ll be in line to touch the MotoSurf at CES and I’ll share my thoughts and photos with you shortly. Stay tuned.

Moto’s media site is down, so here is a link on the subject: [TAGS: , , , , , ,
