We are about to enter the hall where NETGEAR will be giving its CES 2008 Press Conference. We’re thinking that they will do some Powerline networking, N+ routers, NAS storage, and more. We wish they offered up some free WiFi across Vegas but that is unlikely.

All product have “green features” such as auto-sleep modes, on off buttons, smaller packaging and making it from recycled materials.
Some of the other items are the RangeMax Dual Band Wireless N Gigabit Router and the Powerline AV Adapter Kit with 4-port ethernet switch.
Netgear will be announcing a total of 15 new products during CES, however they only focused on three today here at the press conference. You can be sure we will get some additional new product posts written up shortly.
10 new products, which will be announced during the show are in the router and gateway category.
The Internet TV Player will retail for 9 and be available in the summer of 2009.

3G Mobile Broadband Router will be available in Jan 2009 for an MSRP for 9
Digital Entertainer will launch in Feb 2009 for an MSRP of 9
The Digital Entertainer Elite is a full sized set top box that will play HD video up to Blu-ray quality. It also allows the user to “store & stream thousands of videos.” It has the largest storage capacity ever. 500GB of hard drive space included. It can also be user upgraded. Finally it also works with the NAS Pro which offers up to 9TB of storage capacity, its a “big kahuna.”

Finally they have also announced the Digital Entertainer Elite for the serious media enthusiast.

The router offers a USB ports that allows a regular 3G model to simply be plugged in.
The router enables a hotspot on the go. Was said to be perfect for those on the go. Wi-Fi hotspots “virtually anywhere.” The router works with a 3G access card.

They have just announced the 3G Mobile Broadband Router.
Another menu option offers Torrent Videos, which I am sure will please many.
Rental movies are also available, full movie will download and alert you when it is ready to be played.

There is also pre-arranged content from popular websites to include ESPN, FOX, TMZ and more.

Search by topic or keyword. You can also “veg out” and watch TV. With the Live Internet TV menu option you can watch live TV from all over the world to include Sky, EuroTV and more.
Thankfully there are more options to watch, the player features “vtap” search to find additional content.
Full screen, seems to offer a nice quality image, Appears to be easy to use. The demo is covering the YouTube channels, cannot help but think “wow” yet another way to watch YouTube on the big screen. And yes that “wow” is slightly sarcastic.
Compact, plug in and go. Comes with a “simple” remote control. Access to YouTube, or search for Internet TV, can even watch “premium” content. Now we are getting a live demo.
The Internet TV Player is a nice small device, pretty much looks like most other small household routers.
In October there were 150million internet video viewers. And watched 13 billion videos during this time.

Mentioned that they wanted internet access to flow like electricity throughout the house.
There will be 15 new Netgear products announced at CES, with 3 of these being focused on today.

Sure there are some software things that they need to optimize before that box can reach a mass market. For example support for Youtube HD on the HDMI version would be great. A better support for using NAS storage for storing rented and BitTorrent videos would be great. Supporting automatic downloads of video-podcasts including BitTorrent RSS episodes would be great. And to store that on cheap NAS storage. Then Netgear should release a cheap NAS solution as well.
I wonder if the Netgear ITV2000 box will have both HDMI and S-Video output, instead of having two different versions for SD and HD audiences.
