View digital files on your TV with the Seagate FreeAgent Theater

Over the past several years, many people have started to watch more and more entertainment programming digitally over their computers. However, most computer screens do not provide as good as a viewing experience as a high definition television. To solve this problem, Seagate has developed the FreeAgent Theater HD media player. The unveiling took place at CES in Las Vegas.

With the FreeAgent products, you can store your digital files (i.e. movies, photos, home videos, etc) and then play them on your TV. The FreeAgent Theater will work with the FreeAgent Go hard drive and allow you to store the files onto your TV instead of your computer.

It’s fairly simple to use. After transferring the media files to the hard drive, you’ll place the drive into the FreeAgent Theater. Place the Theater next to any TV set and then use the device’s controls to play your files. If you don’t own the FreeAgent Go hard drive, you can still you the FreeAgent Theater. It is compatible with any USB file storage device. File types supported include MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, JPEG and DivX.

Seagate is offering the FreeAgent products at a reasonable price; a 250GB FreeAgent Theater start as low as $230 while a 500GB model costs less than $300.
