Garmin Approach G5In an attempt to expand their products, Garmin has recently introduced a new GPS specifically designed for golfers – the Approach G5. To please golfers, Garmin had to include many useful features, let’s take a closer look to see what they added.

First off, the 3-inch touch screen display is waterproof, so if it starts pouring when you’re out golfing, the Approach G5 will be saved. Now, as soon as you turn the device on, you have the ability to Play and Preview. When the GPS is in Play mode, you are able to see all golf course maps that give you important information such as accurate distance, hazards, greens, etc.

The GPS picks up on your every move and quickly updates your position. More than just providing location information, it tells how you how hard you need to swing to get the golf ball to your intended destination. Also, you can keep track of your own scorecard using the pre-loaded digital scorecard.

Dan Bartel, Garmin’s VP of Worldwide Sales, had this to say about their latest GPS:

“The Approach G5 shows golfers the precise distance to the center of green or other key course features, which can eliminate the guesswork and make club selection easier – key factors in improving any golfer’s score. There’s no other existing golf device that combines the ease of use, large color touchscreen and preloaded information featured in the Approach, all with no annual fees. Within minutes of opening the box, you can be ready to tee off.”

If you want, before you go to a course, or if you are looking to choose one, you can easily examine the best courses and then make a decision from the comfort of your home. If you want to take a closer look at the Approach G5, be sure to check out their CES booth.
