Rand McNally LogoToday at CES, Navigon announced that they received rights to Rand McNally’s Scenic Routes and City Guides. They will put that info into their lineup of GPSs. In fact, Navigon is the first GPS company to use this Best of the Road information in their GPSs. If this service is received with a lot of popularity, I’m sure other GPS companies will employ his content in their GPSs as well.

Basically, this service has over 250 scenic routes as well as pre-planned trips available in the 50 states of American and Canada. More than just scenic route planning, the Rand McNally service also provides good and useful information on nearby attractions in over 1400 American and Canadian cities.

Vice President for Rand McNally, Donna Koppensteiner, had this to say about working with Navigon:

“Rand McNally has long been counted on to deliver outstanding and relevant travel content. By leveraging our superior mapping technology into location-based devices, we are enabling consumers to enhance their driving experience. We appreciate working with industry innovators like NAVIGON to bring relevant content to the consumer where and when they need it.”

On the flip side, Michael Roach, Navigon’s President for North & South America, had this to say:

“As the most respected company in the mapping, routing and geographic reference industry, Rand McNally is a perfect partner to continue our tradition of bringing innovation to the GPS market and delivering features that are relevant to the navigation experience.”

It will be available this Spring, selling for $19.99 for the City Guide, and the same price for the Scenic Route package.
