Palm pre officially announced; let the pricing rumors begin

Yesterday, Palm officially unveiled the Palm pre, and although they gave us plenty of details, there are a few that have been left off. It was mentioned that, once available the pre will be exclusive with Sprint, however a price was not announced, and if you ask me that could be a make or break detail.
So far, nothing official yet, however the rumor floating around CES and the Internet is that we can expect to see it priced at $399. Sounds a bit high, sure it may be a fair price, but it is a little expensive as compared to some of the competition — notably the iPhone 3G.
Additionally, it was also mentioned that an unlocked GSM version would follow later in the year, and the rumored pricing is that it will be between $500 and $550.
