Under glass at CES, Mio showed off a concept device that is reportedly, “pretty cool.” Mio ususually shows off some concepts that they are working on. For example, last year Mio showed a cell phone that is still on the back burner but being considered for the European market.
Mio describes this device as a Mobile Internet Device and is aimed at basically what is the netbook crowd. Wi-Fi, GPS and a big old battery (up to 8 hours). It looks pretty slick but you’ve got to wonder about the utility and speed of Windows Mobile running on it vs some of the linux distros out there. I don’t even have a guess (and neither did Mio) on price.
Using Windows Mobile allows Mio to tout a quick boot up time. The latest, Windows Mobile 6.1 was on this box. The Mio rep said a couple of them have this for testing/play and their response was pretty good. No word if that will influence its path to market.

You see this gadgets shown up all the time but most of them never make it to the market. That’s very sad for gadget loving people like me
