Two low-end navigation devices from Garmin, the eTrex Vista H and the eTrex Legend H are being upgraded. What’s new in these machines? The GPS receiver in each is now more sensitive. Garmin says this will help campers and hikers get signal faster even in “dense tree canopies or vertical canyons.”
A barometric altimeter and an electronic compass have been added to the eTrex Vista H. Both models have 24MB of onboard storage for maps.
These two devices are designed to be handheld units for outdoor travels (hence, the “eTrex” name”). Both devices have grayscale screens that measure 2.4-inches. The Vista H costs $199.99, while the Legend H is only $149.99
