Microsoft Windows 7 Beta Build 7000 in screenshots

As many of you already know, Microsoft had announced during CES that it was publicly opening up the beta of Windows 7. Given that, I could not wait to download, install, and begin to check it out. After all, I did have a spare partition that was just begging for an operating system. I have not been a big Vista user, so some of the comparisons are hard for me to make, I can say that (as compared to Windows XP) it seems to run very nicely. I have it installed on an Asus Eee PC 1000h that is mostly stock except for the 2GB of RAM.

So far I have been using it for just about two days, and have not experienced any issues. As for software, I have installed numerous items to include Firefox, Chrome, AVG, Evernote, Flickr Uploadr, IrfanView, StarOffice, SugarSync, TweetDeck (AdobeAir), VLC media player, and more without any issue.

Keep reading to check out a bunch of different screenshots in the gallery below.

I included a bunch of items such as the taskbar previews, Start Menu, Start button (that highlights) along with various others such as the Control Panel, browsers and even the “Show Desktop” button that is off to the right side of the clock. I understand that plenty of people are interested in checking this out, but not everyone is willing to run a beta OS. So if there is something specific you want to see or know, just leave a note in the comments below, I will do my best to update with answers or new screenshots.

  1. Man, I'm excited for Microsoft to get a stable version of this. As one who has steered clear of the Vista fiasco except as a computer tech, I am really curious to see how this one handles all the peripherals, video games, software, etc.

So far so good it seems.

    Thanks for the info!

  2. I'm having some trouble installing the Win7 Beta.

I have burnt the ISO to a DVD. When I reboot it goes through all the post stuff. Once it gets to the part "Boot from CD/DVD" or whatever, it just goes on and boots up XP again.

Is there maybe a specific way to install this?
