The Pentax K2000 is now available for pre-order directly from Pentax’s website. The all white DSLR comes with an 18-55mm and a 50-200mm lens (although it’s compatible with every Pentax lens ever created), all for around $679.95 with the body. The camera won’t actually ship until February.
The K2000 takes 10.2 megapixel pictures, has shake reduction, ISO from 100-3200, a 2.7-inch LCD with 170-degree viewing, and has an “Advanced Auto Picture” mode which automatically selects the most appropriate shooting mode for a particular situation.
This white camera definitely breaks the model of the traditional SLR. The traditional black K2000 actually has an MSRP of $800, so the new white version is being sold at a discounted price rather than a premium one. We’re still not sure how we feel about the white body on this one. What about you-could you see yourself rocking a white SLR?
