gdrive directive revealed

All the best leaks come for pouring over code in a dark room for hours on end. This week, we’ve seen code reveal the *amazing* discovery that Apple may have an idea on a new iPhone model, crazy stuff right? And now, GDrive’s function is revealed in a few lines of code in a file used by Google Pack.

I suspect right now, Gadgetell Editors are devising a plan to do away with writers and just get a few freezing brothers from Siberia huddled around a few glowing machines to scour code to find breaking news stories. I am not sure why they have to be so cold, but it seems to motivate them to get through the code faster.

This code reveals three bits:

  • Online file backup and storage
  • Gdrive provides reliable storage for all your files, including photos, music and documents
  • Gdrive allows you to access your files from anywhere, anytime and from any device, be it from desktop, web browser or cellular phone.

Mobile access is fantastic, as is a simple backup tool (Google only makes simple things) and a desktop client? Fantastic stuff. If you were not worried about Google controlling your life before Gdrive, you should be now.

  1. Hi JG. Just to let you know, I work for http://www.nomadesk.com. We offer easy and secure file sharing, wherever you are. Being online is not required. I read your post on Google's GDrive with great interest and just wanted to add NomaDesk to the mix in this discussion.
NomaDesk has already been on the market for some time, and we offer similar features geared specifically towards the need of the "digital nomad". We are convinced that the more data gets synchronized, the more likely it gets compromised. Therefore, NomaDesk includes an encrypted virtual drive that keeps your files securely available off-line and remote file shredding and IP-tracking with TheftGuard. Of course, we impose no limits on storage and bandwidth. A Mac version is on its way.

    So,

    I would appreciate your review.
    F.

    Filip
