This is a real low. Jack in the Box’s fictional character Jack Box is on Twitter and has more followers than I do. The fast food company began a new marketing campaign featured on Twitter alerting followers that Jack was hit by a bus on Sunday. The company ran a Super Bowl ads in selected markets as well.
While his normal tweets were things like: “Having a taco-riffic day!” and “Thinking of new ideas for breakfast sandwiches.” or “Teaching Jack Jr. French,” his assistant tweeted “This is Barbara, Jack’s assistant. Jack was hit by a bus. I’ll be updating his Facebook & Twitter with more info as I get it. Stay tuned….” on Sunday. A website, hangintherejack.com was created with videos on the breaking story.
The site encourages viewers to send get well messages to the character as well as videos. There is this guy from Dallas who was “sad to hear Jack was runned over”.
I only made it about 15 seconds into the rambling thoughts of this Jack lover. Let me know if there is anything interesting in it.
I never even thought about Jack in the Box having a Twitter account. A quick check shows Ronald McDonald and the Burger King are not early adopters.

Ha, man marketing is getting fun!
I bet the bus driver that hit him was texting when it happened.
Davis, good one!
I love the detail they've put into this campaign: "walking around the office getting face time with my employees." It cracks me up.
Anyone willing to admit they are following Jack now?
