First there was the well known E*Trade commercial with the talking baby bragging about how his BlackBerry keeps him connected, now some say educational toy company Leapfrog has taken the skit a bit farther with its new Text and Learn toy, which many are calling the “Baby BlackBerry.”
It’s not hard to see why as it does look like a brightly colored version of the popular smartphone. Along with the usual educational games meant to teach spelling, the toy also offers a built in calendar the company says is meant to teach kids the days of the month, a “pretend” web browser, and yes, even the ability to send text messages to a puppy “guide” named Scout.
“These new learning toys offer children personalised play, on-the-go learning fun and help build preschool readiness skills,” said a spokesperson for LeapFrog. “We would love to talk to BlackBerry about a tie-up.”
The Text and Learn will be on toy store shelves this summer and retail for $25. Hmm..what’s next, the Baby iPhone?
