Magnolia logoLast week, the social bookmarking site Magnolia had a file system corruption that caused the site’s server to go down. The company relied on only a single backup server to house the data stored on the site. Unfortunately, the backup server was corrupted as well and the company’s founder fears that the data may be permanently lost.

Magnolia founder Larry Halff explained in a post found on the homepage of the site that he is working with a data recovery company in hopes of getting a working version of the database up and running. Halff is unsure at this point of the outlook and hopes to have a status update by next week.

In the meantime, Magnolia has set up a recovery tools page that lists resources that can help users get all or a portion of their bookmarks back. Also, for users that set up a premium subscription with Magnolia, they will be sent refunds for their purchase over the next couple of weeks.
