Verizon Netbook

In a statement released Thursday, Verizon confirmed that it will start selling a netbook computer from Hewlett Packard starting on Sunday. The HP Mini 1151NR Netbook will cost only $199.99 with a 2 year service contract and $50 mail in rebate. Subscription pricing will remain the same, however additional downloads will be permitted for the lower monthly plans.

The HP Mini 1151NR Netbook will have a 10.1 inch display screen as well as access to Verizon’s 3G network. It will run on Windows XP and obtain 1GB of RAM, an 80GB hard drive, Intel 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, 802.11b/g and 2 USB ports. A SD card expansion slot will also be available on the Verizon netbook.

Overage charges have also been reduced for data plan users with a 5 cent charge for each megabyte over the limit instead of the original cost of 25 cents. If the data plans seem to steep for you, you will have another option: a mobile broadband day pass which will cost $15. During a 24 hour period, the user will have unlimited access to the Internet on their mobile device.
