If you are still considering purchasing a Palm Pre on June 6 but really would like to avoid a long term commitment with Sprint then you may be in luck. According to a recent press release, Cell2Get.com will be offering you the chance to get the Pre without a contract.
“Cell2Get is offering you the chance to purchase the phone without a contract. No contracts, no commitment, and no hidden fees. Once you purchase the phone it is yours.”
If you check my words word above, you will notice that I said “may,” which is because I cannot personally vouch for the Cell2Get website. Honestly I have never heard of them before. That said they do seem to have a nice selection of available (and unlocked) phones for sale.
Unfortunately the press release did not mention any pricing on the contract-free Pre. Of course, I would expect to pay a nice premium, take the iPhone 3G for example. The 16GB iPhone 3G in black is retailing for $699 and the white model for $782. Additionally, they have unlocked G1′s that are going for $417 and $434 for the black and white model respectively.
Finally, they also warn of “high demand and their limited quantity.”
