Dell has settled a class-action lawsuit filed against it by several former employees for $9.1 million. Former senior strategist in learning and development for human resources Jill Hubley filed the case in October and was joined by co-worker Laura Guenther. The women claimed Dell discriminated against its female employees in the areas of salary, promotions, and career opportunities.
The class-action status was added to cover all women who became employees after February 1, 2003. Out of the settlement, $4.5 million will be split between Hubley and Guenther, $1.1 million will go to their lawyer, and the remaining $3.5 million will go into a fund for pay adjustments for current employees who were covered under the suit’s class-action status.
The plaintiffs have agreed to drop any further legal action and Dell of course has admitted no wrongdoing.
