opentable gets a seat in the palm pre app catalog with no waitAccording to Palm’s blog, a couple of new apps have been unleashed in the world: OpenTable and Fliq Bookmarks. While neither are ground-breaking, do they point to good things to come? That answer is looking more and more like a “Yes.”

OpenTable is a restaurant reservation application that has been available on the iPhone for some time and is very handy (personal observation – when did they add menu viewing?). The presence of more mainstream apps, such as OpenTable, is a good sign that developers see the platform as worthy of effort. The other announced application Fliq Bookmarks allows users (currently Mac only) to share bookmarks from their browsers with their Palm Pre.

Just Monday, Gadgetell offered up some hope for the Pre in the form of a new home at Verizon. Palm has a history of similar devices on multiple carriers and there is every expectation that the Pre won’t change this course. Even AT&T is rumored to be considering adding the device to their arsenal, competition is a good thing. It is exactly this kind of adoption that could spell success for Palm’s comeback.
