Today, Palm announced the next webOS phone, the Pixi. We’ve assembled three lesser know facts that were not covered by most media outlets in announcing the new phone. These secrets might play a big role in how well the phone is received by consumers.

Secret 1: Touchstone, baby

Like the Palm Pre, the Pixi is designed to be compatible with the unique, wireless charging Touchstone. The toadstool-like accessory plugs into a wall then allows your phone to magnetically stick to it and recharge. Your phone stays active and you can even use the speaker phone to take calls while charging. Palm says the phone is compatible with the Touchstone which is currently selling for $49.99.

Secret 2: Are you an Artist?

The Palm Pixi will be available in five different Artist Series designs. These limited editions add some flare to the sea of black phones out there. Five different artists were commissioned to create art for the phone that will cover the back and sides of the phone. Note the backs are compatible with the Touchstone, so unlike the Palm Pre, the Pixie Artist Series won’t need a door change to allow wireless charging. How’s that for forward thinking?

Secret 3: Remote Erase

Like the Palm Pre, the Pixi owner can erase the memory of the Pixi should it happen to fall into the wrong hands. It does this remotely via SMS and will erase all of the users data and returns the phone to factory settings. While it removes up to 8GB of memory, the phone will appear “bricked” but is just going through the erasing sequence, a bonus appearance for would-be thieves. Interestingly, the phone will only be erased when an SMS is recieved within 24 hours after being sent. Older “kill” SMS orders will be ignored.

Are these enough to peak your interest in what appears to be a super slim phone, with the fun webOS, an always out keyboard and fancy colorway options? Expect this phone to be on Sprint by the holidays and everywhere else before the ground thaws.
