Gefen unveils slew of new HDTV accessories including wireless HDMI unit

If you’re a home theater buff, then you’ll definitely want to see what Gefen is up to. Today, they unveiled several new items that could help make a home theater easier to set up. First up is a a set of adapters that extends HDMI over regular coax cable. Utilizing a receiver and a sender unit, 1080p HD and 5.1 audio can be sent up to 1000 feet via Coax cable. The device is called the Gefen Extender for HDMI with Coax Adapters.

If you put your home theater components very far away from your actual screen, Gefen also introduced the Gefen Wireless RS-232 Extender. It has the same set up as before with a sender and receiver unit. You can control your devices from 1000 feet away and since this extender uses RF, there’s no line of sight necessary.

Hooking up your devices to your display can be troublesome if you run out of inputs. Gefen also introduced the TV Multi-Format Switcher. It can support up to 10 different sources. Here’s the break down:

The TV Multi-Format Switcher connects two s-video, two composite, two component, one VGA and three HDMI inputs to one HDMI display. All analog video formats are accompanied by two-channel L/R analog audio, while the three HDMI inputs come with supplemental digital (TOSlink; S/PDIF) audio.

Lastly, is the GefenTV Wireless for HDMI 60Ghz Extender. The maximum range of this wireless HDMI technology is 30 feet and Gefen recommends line of sight between the transmitter and receiver units. You’ll get 1080p HD with 5.1 audio wirelessly.
