Vuzix just recently introduced its Wrap line of wearable displays. The Wrap 310 is supposed to float a 16:9 55-inch screen in front of your eyes at a resolution of 428 x 240. The biggest difference between the Wrap and other models from Vuzix is the styling. These glasses look more like sunglasses than a futuristic visor. The Wrap can accept any regular headphones and also has a cable that leads to a remote control. That remote control has an input for video adapters for things like the iPod. Expect a Zune adapter if there’s a demand. There is also a VGA adapter so you can hook up the Vuzix to your laptop and veg out. The device runs on 2 AA batteries and the claimed battery life is 6-7 hours. It ships out in October and will cost $249.95.
I got to test out the Vuzix Wrap 310 for a little while. The styling is an improvement and I could see how people would like this better than the visor. The Vuzix was getting video from an iPod touch (first generation). The glasses slipped over my prescription glasses easily. The display was bright and large. It’s definitely a watchable image if you can get past the screen door effect. Since the remote accepts adapters for video inputs, it ought to be relatively future proof. Perhaps we’ll see a component video version soon.

The title of this article says Hands On- but clearly the author has not had hands on. Was this supposed to be a review?
