The New York Times has recently begun offering a $100 off on the purchase of a new Samsung Go netbook. Of course, the catch here is that you need to become a NYT subscriber in order to get that $100 savings.
Basically, the offer is simple — become a Times Reader 2.0 subscriber and get $100 off on a Samsung Go netbook.
The Times Reader 2.0 subscription will set you back $179.40 for a one-year subscription and then you will get your “Times Reader Coupon” which will entitle you to purchase the Samsung Go by way of J&R for $279.99.
In terms of the netbook, feature wise it has a 10.1-inch display, 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive and is running Windows XP Home.
All things considered, this is not that bad of a deal, assuming you were already planning on becoming a Times Reader 2.0 subscriber. That said, I would not subscribe just to save the $100 on the netbook. Of course, if this was on a more portable, or more reading focused device such as an ebook reader I may be more enticed.
