Another product that I was able to spend a few minutes with last night at CES Unveiled was the recent announced ZOMM Bluetooth wireless leash for your cellphone. And I hate to say it, but when I read about this a few days back, I thought it was another gimmicky product, you know, one of those gadgets that looks neat but one that you may not purchase.
That said, I am happy to say that after spending a few minutes last night with Peter Hauser, who is the CTO of ZOMM, I can say that my mind has changed. The ZOMM is actually a really interesting little gadget. Sure its a wireless leash, which will help if you leave your phone somewhere. But as much as I should not write this because it will mean that I am sure to lose my phone, but taking a chance here, my phone is generally in my hand and not able to get lost.
But that is where the other features come in handy, the ZOMM also serves as a speakerphone (hands free in the car), even allowing you to answer the call with just the push of a button. You can also double click that button and send the call to voicemail. Additionally, it also serves as a security device that will allow you to call 911 quickly and easily should you get in an car accident.
Anyway, the ZOMM is expected to be available in Q2 of 2010.
