CES: Android e-Reader Alex unveiled

Alex e-reader with AndroidToday, Spring Design will unveil a new ereader based on Android with a 6: e-ink screen and a 3.5″ LCD color screen. The device, named Alex will sell for $399 and be available in late February, 2010. The finished device looks to have changed from the prototype we saw back in October.

“Alex’s network connections with WiFi, 3G, EVDO/CDMA and GSM, makes it the first truly mobile wireless e-reader device that gives users access to the Internet and their own personalized library on the go, whenever and wherever they need it.”

the device features a virtual keyboard for data entry. It appears browsing, and all Android functionality are limited to the 3.5″ screen while the 6″ e-ink screen is reserved for books.

We’ll be able to confirm this later today when Gadgetell will get a hands on with the device.
