NAVIGON brings GPS navigation app to Android and Windows Mobile smartphones

NAVIGON announced it is bringing its popular GPS navigation app to both the Android and Windows Mobile OS. One of the things we loved about NAVIGON (who pulled it stand alone GPS navigation devices off the US market this past year) is its use of actual exit sign text to guide drivers. Soon Android and WinMo users will be able to reap the benefits of NAVIGONs system.

The Windows Mobile version of the app will finish ahead of the Android app. Launching in the next week at the early-bird price of $69.99, the price will jump $20 to $89 on Feb. 14. The Android version is due to hit Spring 2010 for an undisclosed sum. We expect similar pricing to the WinMo version.

For Android users, we’ve got to wonder how many will jump aboard with Google’s free navigation just an update away for many of the devices. We wonder if NAVIGON is regretting the investment in the Android app now.
