Sennheiser CX 680

At CES Sennheiser has launched a new line of sports headphones. While Sennheiser alone releasing new sports headphones is predictable and not that exciting, these new headphones are co-branded and co-designed by Adidas.

The biggest new improvement here looks to be the added fins on the MX 680 (earbuds) and CX 680 (in-earphones). They may look a bit strange at first, but they are meant to help secure the earbuds in the ear, so they won’t fall out while running or any sort of exercise or sport. The fins hook around the cinch in your ear, and each pair has two sizes for different ear sizes. They make for a strange feeling when first put in, but would likely become easier to wear with extended use.

The partnership also brings about the OMX 680 (over-the-ear buds) and the PMX 680 (over-the-ear buds headset). Each pair is water (read: sweat and rain) proof, and has a short wire for those who wear devices on their arm, and an extension cable with included volume control. Prices range from $80 for the MX 680 to $120 for the CX 680.

    A Great Pair!

I've been looking for a pair earphones for a while now that are water resistant and robust, as well as comfortable and produce a descent sound. I go the gym on a regular basis and have been using a non water resistant pair of Sennheiser earphones, which for the environment I'm in were not suitable. They kept coming out of my ears & became uncomfortable due to movement. So…they eventually died on me :( most definitely due to sweat getting in.
So I did a bit of research regarding the type of earphone that would tick all the boxes, and decided on these Sennheiser/Adidas CX 680..
Well I've just been the gym today with them, and what can I say… Superb! Sound great not high end compared to IE 8's but still solid, with good bass & treble.. most importantly they were very comfortable, it felt like there was nothing in my ears.. yes that comfortable. Another plus they don't come out of your ears at all, this is due to cleverly designed fins which make them even more secure in your ears. They also come with loads of different size attachments, 3 sizes of fins, buds.. so you can find the perfect fit easily.
So for me overall perfect piece of kit for training.. they won't disappoint guaranteed!
