At hardly two weeks old, the Nexus One has received its first native hack. And this hack enables the one feature that everyone felt the Google Phone was missing, multitouch.
For now, this multitouch support is only for the native Nexus One browser but soon could be more. Virtuoso Android hacker Cyanogen, creator of this hack and many other Android hacks, states that within a few days, the support could be extended to all of the default apps that come on the phone. The delay is on Google’s part as well. Cyanogen and other Android developers are waiting for Google to drop the Android 2.1 source code into the AOSP.
Google has been taking its time on the AOSP, Android Open Source Project, which is preventing developers from creating full overhauls of Android 2.1 ROMs. But Google has started that update and we may see full overhauls by the end of the weekend. So get ready for some major advancements in the hacking world for this Google Phone. Now if only it could get the sales.
