Earlier this morning, it was confirmed that the Google Nexus One on AT&T and T-Mobile started receiving the OTA update for Android 2.2, with all devices receiving the update by the end of the week. Since Froyo seems ready to go, the obvious question is when will other manufacturers update their phones to Android 2.2, especially HTC considering they have to make HTC Sense compatible with the updated OS. Fortunately for HTC Android smartphone owners, a spokesperson for HTC informed Recombu of this bit of news:
We are working hard with our partners to update the HTC Sense experience on Froyo and distribute it to our customers as fast as possible. We expect to release updates for several of our 2010 models including Desire, Legend and Wildfire beginning in Q3.”
With Q3 starting in a few days, I doubt HTC will push Android 2.2 out to the Desire, Legend, and Wildfire this early, as it will probably be weeks into Q3 before the update is available. Either way, this comes as good news for those who own one of the three smartphones because it is confirmed by HTC Android 2.2 will land sometime in Q3.
