Trillian for Android

The Android Market has many Instant Messaging apps, but it’s hard to say any of them are stellar apps. However, we should be soon seeing a new player in town which already has quite a reputation. One of the best known Windows and Mac Instant Messaging applications, Trillian, will shortly be making its way to the Android platform.

Some of the features for the Trillian Android app include:

Connect to Facebook Chat, Windows Live, Yahoo!, AIM, ICQ, Google Talk, Jabber/XMPP and MySpaceIM
Synchronize your contacts, avatars, status, accounts and more with your Trillian-enabled desktop or mobile apps
Get notified easily with Android notification system integration
Contact list sorting, grouping, metacontacts support, privacy settings and various ways to organize
Set status, avatar and display name quickly in one simple screen
Tabbed chat windows with bubble view, photo transfer, buzz and emoticon support
Support for Android phones as far back as version 1.6 – works with your good old T-Mobile G1 or the newest HTC Evo 4G or Motorola Droid!
We took special care and respect to design and build the user interface to smoothly integrate with Android – this is not just a clone from the iPhone!

It’s nice that Cerulean Studios made sure the Trillian app would be compatible with all versions of Android because there are still many users touting older versions of Android. In addition, it is nice that Cerulean Studios realizes Android users do not simply want an iPhone app for the Android market – Android users want a revamped app that they call their own.

Apparently the first beta release of the Trillian app is only a few weeks away, so that is good news for Trillian fans on Android. You can check out a screenshot of the app in action below.
