Back in late June, U.S. Cellular was gearing up to launch its first Android smartphone in the form of the Samsung Acclaim on July 9. Well, today is July 9 and U.S. Cellular is, indeed, selling the Samsung Acclaim right on cue. The Acclaim is selling for $99.95 after a $70 MIR on a new two year agreement, but there is also a buy one get one free offer going on for a limited time.

The Samsung Acclaim features a 3.2 inch HVGA touch screen, slideout QWERTY keyboard, operates on Android 2.1, 3MP camera, full HTML browser, WiFi, and Bluetooth Connectivity. In addition, it comes loaded with a 4GB microSD card that can be expandable. The following is a list of preloaded apps:

Alarm Clock
City ID
Google MapsTM
Android MarketTM
My Contacts Backup
Google TalkTM
The Weather Channel®
Tone Room Deluxe
Your Navigator Deluxe

Any Samsung Acclaim purchase requires a data plan and U.S. Cellular offers two different data plans. One is for $30 which includes email and web data. The other for $55 includes a modem service in addition to the email and web. If you are eligible for an upgrade on U.S. Cellular, then you may want to consider the new Android phone as it is a solid mid-range device.
