Magellan 510-610-710 All of you nature loving outdoorsey folk, Magellan has released three new handheld GPS units to help you find your way across unfamiliar terrain. The 510, 610 and 710 ($349.99, $449.99 and $549.99 respectively) boast a 3-inch screen a 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera and a microphone for recording audio and video recordings on your trips. All three devices are waterproof for all of you underwater adventurers and also have pre-loaded world maps. The big daddy 710 comes with the most detailed of world maps of the three models while the 610 and 710 feature 3-point compasses.

“With the popularity of social networks, the GPS industry is shifting towards more online experience sharing,” said Justin Doucette, Director, Outdoor Product Marketing, Magellan. “There are many sites that allow for geographic and multimedia data to be posted and shared with others. The eXplorist series allows users to bring their adventures home with them, catalog for future reference, and share online with family and friends.”

Although it might just sound like another medium that will flood your news feed on Facebook, it could actually prove to be a useful device for nature dwellers that detest technology. If that wasn’t enough motivation for you nature boys to pick up an eXploris, Magellan customers will also receive a 30-day free premium membership to geocaching which looks like a boatload of fun. All three eXploris models are available now.
