As of this morning an updated version of the iBooks app is now available in the App Store. This update brings the version number up to 1.1.1 and adds some welcomed features.
First and foremost, this version of iBooks has caught up with the Kindle app in one aspect — support for audio and video within books. Otherwise there is now a dictionary for quick word look-ups as well as the ability to double tab to zoom in on an image within a book.
Other features and additions in iBooks 1.1.1 includes “substantial performance improvements” on PDF’s and the standard “stability and performance improvements.”
Finally, as it was, the iBooks app remains available as a free download for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users.
